Star Wars Disney+ show The Mandalorian became one of the most beloved Star Wars series in the whole world. After all, the show had great character development and interesting plots which were backed up by strong writing. One of the biggest strengths of the show was being able to introduce new characters that were able to captivate audiences. 

One of those new characters was Cara Dune who was a powerful shock trooper working for the renowned Rebel Alliance. But she turned into a mercenary and then helped Din Djarin. 

The actress who portrayed Cara Dune was Gina Carano. But she got fired after making controversial social media posts even after being warned by Disney. After her firing, there has been one question that has been on people’s minds- will Cara Dune be recast?  Or will the character will mysteriously be killed off? Or will she be put on a bus? No one has the answers till the show comes back for its third season. 

But if the show does recast her and we have some amazing fan-casting ideas. 

Here’s a list of all the actresses who, according to us, can play Cara Dune now that Gina Carano has been fired. 

10. Krysten Ritter

If Disney isn’t going to give me Jessica Jones, then the least they can do is give me Krysten Ritter as Cara Dune. After all, she can do it all whether it is shining in a serious show or showing off her comedic side, there’s nothing Ritter can’t excel at. In fact, she will be able to give Cara Dune an intensity that Carano could simply never have been able to. 

9. Carla Gugino

We know that many eyebrows will be raised at this but hear us out, Carla Gugino can really do it all. While most viewers will know her from The Haunting Of Hill House, but Gugino has been working way longer than that and that too in various kinds of genres. 

Many don’t know that she has actually done sci-fi and comic book stuff as well since she was in Sin City. So she can carry Cara Dune’s costume and make the character feel more alive than ever before with her acting chops and stunt sequences. 

8. Adrianne Palicki

After being in The Orville and Agents of Shield, Star Wars seems to be the right thing for Adrianne Palicki. Also, we already know that she has the acting chops to elevate the character to new heights but very few know that she is kickass in actions scenes as well. 

We mean that you shouldn’t have any doubts after the Agents of Shield role, but if you do, then know that she played a scene-stealing assassin in John Wick and went after the main character. So if you are worried about the action parts- know that Palicki has it down. 

7. Megan Fox

Megan Fox is most well known for being in the Transformer movies, but one of her most notable roles has been in the cult hit called Jennifer’s Body. However, it has been many years since we have seen Fox in….literally anything. So she is certainly due for another role in a big franchise and we would certainly like to see Cara Dune be it. 

Many people won’t be too enthusiastic about her since she does lack the physicality that Carano was able to bring to the character. But even then she can bring a dark seriousness to Dune that will surely be useful. Also, did you know that she has great comedic timing and can act alongside CGI robots as well? These are just bonuses that will help her fit in this universe. 

6. Stephanie Beatriz

Beatriz is most well known for playing Rosa Diaz in the show Brooklyn 99. While that show was a comedy but her fans have long wanted to see her in a tough role. Actually, when Batwoman was being cast, she was one of the actors who fans wanted to see get cast as the character. 

So with her tough attitude and comedic chops, she could certainly bring out a new attitude of Cara Dune. Who knows maybe there’s a light-hearted person lying underneath Dune’s tough exterior, just waiting for Beatriz to come in and showcase it. Also with Brooklyn 99 ending soon, she must be looking for a new notable role as well. 

It must also be said that Beatriz played a bisexual cop on Brooklyn 99 so she is certainly more left-leaning and certainly won’t be making the outrageous posts which Carano was making. 

5. Gwendoline Christie

Gwendoline Christie is best known for playing Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones. That role involved her playing a strong woman. So she had to carry out the demanding physical work as well. Of course, along with the physicality of the character, she has excelled at carrying the emotional weight of it all as well. 

It must also be mentioned that Brienne isn’t the only physically strong female character she has played. In fact, Christie has also portrayed Captain Phasma in Star Wars episodes 7 and 8 respectively. Now while that was a minor role, but it’s clear that she was the one who was mostly underneath the armor. So she is already familiar with wearing heavy armor as well. 

4. Malin Akerman

Malin Ackerman’s claim to fame is playing Silk Spectre II in 2009’s Zack Snyder directed Watchmen. The role involved action sequences along with heavy dramatic material. So it showed that she could definitely handle the demands of such a character. 

So she certainly seems like a good fit for Cara Dune. Also as for comedy, she has been great in Wanderlust and Children’s Hospital as well. So Cara Dune could just be the character that puts her back on the map again. 

3. Rhea Seehorn

Rhea Seehorn is one of the best and underappreciated actors working in television currently. One of her notable roles has been of Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul where she had to intimidate as well as show her intellect. Of course, she had to do both while portraying sadness and vulnerability as well. 

So she certainly has the range to bring Cara Dune to life again. In fact, her skills will ensure that Cara Dune becomes a more fleshed-out character. 

2. Julia Fox

If you didn’t watch Uncut Gems then you probably won’t know about Julia Fox. But not only was the film one of the very best thrillers that has come out in recent years, but she was absolutely phenomenal in it as well. That one movie was enough to showcase her acting range and she will definitely be able to effortlessly step into the role of Cara Dune. 

In fact, this role might be just what she needs to gain international fame. Also casting an up and coming fresh face will give Disney the positive publicity that it needs. 

1. Michelle Rodriguez

When it comes to acting in big franchises, Michelle Rodriguez is certainly no stranger to them. After all, she has played a notable character in the blockbuster Fast & Furious movies before. Along with this she is also trained and can do her own stunts. After all, Rodriguez has made her career playing serious and tough female characters. As for her acting chops, she is certainly a step or two ahead of Carano at least. 

All the actors in this list are phenomenally skilled and talented. They all bring to the table more acting chops than Carano ever could. As such Disney could certainly cast one of these actors and allow Cara Dune to breathe anew again. But will Cara Dune will be indeed recast? That just remains to be seen till season 3 of The Mandalorian premiers.
