STAR WARS graphic universe holds a large number of antagonists, and each of them holds their individual potential of evil against heroic characters. The trilogy series of the franchise has always been known for its triumph of good over evil. Although the franchise has also focused on the balance between the dark and light force, the strength of the heroes can be contrasted by the strongest villains. Villains have always revolted to threaten and to grow chaos in order to destroy the balance and peace of the galaxy, whereas heroes had always found a way of defeating them.
Although it’s the heroes we all always look up to, villains also hold a special place in the fans heart as they are the most substantial and the best ever created dark force regardless of the mechanism. STAR WARS has furnished us with these iconic and fascinating characters for over forty years and some of these villains are chart-topping.
However villainous they may be, there are some events where we can find them executing heroic deeds. So, let’s find out who are the villains that have redeemed themselves.
CAD BANE, from THE CLONE WARS, a merciless bounty hunter who turned out to be one of the best villains from the show. It was seen that he had a great rivalry with Obi-Wan from the beginning of the series, although he ended up saving his life. When Kenobi helped Bane and the other hunters in the deadly situation, Obi Wan’s life ended up in danger and was surprisingly saved by CAD BANE.
ASAJJ VENTRESS, from THE CLONE WARS, a member of the sith was also one of the reluctant villains of the star wars. She, out of the good in her heart helped Vos and Doku in fleeing away from the Jedi’s and also sacrificed herself for Vos, her lover to protect him by absorbing the blast.
BOBA FETT from THE MANDALORIAN, one of the most dynamic characters from Star Wars had been seen turning good. In the search of his armour, he hunts Mando and later in a deal, he ends up helping the bounty hunter to get back Grogu, everyone’s favourite which automatically turns him good in the audience’s eyes.
KYLO REN from THE LAST JEDI will always be remembered for the controversial decision made by him at the end which was killing SNOKE, the supreme leader. Snoke has ordered Kylo to kill Rey but instead of killing Rey, he ended up killing Snoke. Thus, we can see that he didn’t want to kill Rey and formed an alliance with her.
ASAJJ VENTRESS from THE CLONE WARS was a villain at the beginning but seen with a soft heart as the show went on. Through the story, we had seen that she had ended up as a mercenary and a bounty hunter and was ordered to bring a bounty for someone. When she got to know that the women were helpless and were to be forcibly married off she releases her thus, saving her life.
MAUL from the STAR WARS rebel, in the episode ‘Twilight of the Apprentice’ surprisingly was seen in helping Ahsoka, Kanan and Ezra in defeating the Red-Blades or Inquisitors and also killed many of them. Though this was done in order to manipulate Ezra and bring him on his side so that he could obtain the superweapon by killing Vader but still without Maul, they could have lost the battle.
Maul organized a planetary war to kill Jedi and also he wanted to kill Darth Sidious, so it was seen that before their fight, which was triggered off by Ahsoka feelings for Anakin, Maul asked her to join him so that he can kill Darth Sidious. It is not known if it was out of care or revenge or if he needed someone stronger than him to defeat Sidious but it surely brought out the heroism in him.
AHSOKA TANO and ASAJJ VENTRESS were seen working together in a mutual deal in the season 5 arc. When Tano was accused of murdering Letta Turmond she asked the Ventress for her help. It was unknown why the Ventress agreed to help, but according to her conversation with Anakin, she saw herself in the Jedi. Ahsoka also helped her a number of times throughout the storyline. The Ventress wanted a pardon from the republic whereas Ahsoka wanted to send Anakin towards Barriss Offee. It was iconic to see both the dynamic female characters running into each other.
ALEXSANDR KALLUS from STAR WARS: Rebels was one of the most noteworthy though underestimated villain. Kallus become a supporter and a deserter after procuring the awareness of the rebellion via Garazeb Orellios and that made him a firm believer and so he covertly joined the rebellion as an undercover named Fulcrum. We could clearly see his change of heart in the show.
The two of the most significant and notable villains the DARTH VADER and KYLO REN would be ranked number one in the terms of heroic act. The Darth Vader from RETURN OF THE JEDI became a sith lord under the force of Palpatine in order to save Padme. However, in the process of saving his son and by killing the emperor, he redeemed himself and again become Anakin Skywalker. This was the most significant and tragic turn in the storyline. Whereas Kylo Ren had sacrificed himself for the sake of Rey, on the way to Exegol, Rey summoned all her power to communicate with The Jedi and in order, she lost all her life energy. He shuffled towards her body and healed her, and in the process sacrificing his own life for her.
