There is a lot of speculation about Spider-future Man’s in the MCU. However, his appearances have been a major boon to the franchise. In contrast to Amy Pascal, Tom Holland is apprehensive about his future as Spider-Man. This is because he does not know if Sony will continue to produce Spider-Man films based on the popular web-slinger.
Ticket pre-sales for Spider-Man: No Way Home have crashed websites and led to scalpers reselling seats for thousands of dollars. Nonetheless, the excitement surrounding the threequel has not slowed. All of the sinister villains returning for the Multiversal madness and possible appearances by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are causing a massive amount of anticipation for the upcoming No Way Home and its follow-up films. Fans now have a better idea of how Spider-story Man’s will continue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Sony producer Amy Pascal spoke to Fandango about the future of the Spider-Man franchise following Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home release.
According to Pascal, there will be no “final Spider-Man movie” in the MCU after the release of No Way Home.
Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home are being treated as a trilogy by Marvel Studios and Sony and “now we’re going to go onto the next three,” confirming that there will be 3 more Spider-Man movies:
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel, it just isn’t part of…we’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
In case there was any doubt as to whether or not Marvel’s and Sony’s working relationship would break down again, Pascal reassured everyone that they would continue to collaborate saying:
“Marvel and Sony are going to keep going together as partners.”
In a similar vein to the challenge facing the upcoming Avengers film, the threequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home has so many long-awaited elements that it will be nearly impossible for any future Spider-Man film to match it.
The prospect of 3 more Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland set in the MCU, however, is extremely exciting, giving Peter Parker more chances to interact with the expanding universe.
So, what’s next for Spider-Man? The wallcrawler can only get smaller in the real world. If the beginning of a new trilogy is built on top of the current one, the ‘Homecoming’ trilogy will falter in its subsequent installments.
So, maybe Spidey’s next MCU adventure will focus on him and Daredevil more closely. This will be similar to Kraven’s Last Hunt. There is a chance that Sony will be able to bring in more of its SSU characters. These could be like Aaron Taylor-Kraven Johnson’s to the MCU. A full MCU installment devoted to the much-anticipated crossover between Spider-Man and Venom would raise the stakes of a fourth film. This will eventually eliminate any No Way Home comparisons.
