If there’s an Avengers project that MCU fans are eagerly anticipating, then it’s Secret Wars. Many think that it’s going to be better than Endgame due to higher stakes and more deaths. So here are the 5 heroes who we think will die during or before the multiversal crossover event that Secret Wars is rumored to be.
1) Scott Lang/ Ant-Man
The trailers and teasers released for Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, are not filling us with hope for Scott Lang’s survival. In the SDCC 2022 trailer Kang asks Ant-Man if he has killed him before.
As such, fans are already making theories about his death. And narratively it makes senses as well since his daughter Cassie is telegraphed to become Stature. And with Kate Bishop rumored to be appear in the movie, maybe the seeds of Young Avengers will be sown in this film.
Now, since Stature has the same powers as Ant-Man so two characters with the same powerset can’t survive. And the MCU is all about legacy characters now. So it makes sense that he will die and pass on his mantle to his daughter.
2) Stephen Strange/ Doctor Strange
The biggest rumor doing the rounds of the MCU fandom is that Doctor Strange is going to die in Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Fans think that since Kang has total control over time so Doctor Strange’s powers won’t work as well as they did with Thanos. And he might not even be able to see a scenario where the team will win against Kang.
If this rumor turns out to be true, then the Avengers will be in a bigger disadvantage than they were with Thanos. However, his last act of sacrifice will probably be to open the multiversal portals. All so that his team members to find other heroes for help in Avengers: Secret Wars.
3) Drax and Rocket
The Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 trailer left us all shocked and sad. The latest rumor making the rounds is that Rocket and Drax are both going to die in the movie. Director James Gunn said that he made the third installment because Rocket is his favorite character, and he wanted to complete his arc.
As for Drax, the trailer hinted at several instances where other Guardians are crying. And fans think that it’s because Drax is dead or heavily injured. Apart from Drax, there are theories about Mantis dying too because The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was all about giving her the spotlight, something which hasn’t been done before.
So maybe Gunn did that to flesh out her character before killing her. Also, it will certainly be heart-wrenching for Peter to lose his half-sister after just knowing about it. We know Volume 3 is going to be the last Guardians movie with this crew. So some deaths are bound to happen.
4) Wanda Maximoff/ The Scarlet Witch
Wanda is currently going through her villain phase. But fans expect Feige and crew to will give her a redemption arc. And it’s possible that her redemption will happen when she sacrifices herself in Secret Wars to save others.
Also, with Wiccan and Speed rumored enter the MCU in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, it’s probably in the plans for the Scarlet Witch to redeem herself and pass on her mantle to her sons before Secret Wars. But this is a theory for now. We aren’t even sure where Wanda will appear next. But it’s speculated that Elizabeth Olsen will show up in Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Vision Quest next.
5) Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel is one of the most powerful Avengers and we will see her powers grow in The Marvels. It’s expected that she will undergo a character arc as she grapples with Monica’s disdain for her and Kamala’s adoration towards her.
And since we are talking about legacy, even though Captain Marvel is just a few movies old, it seems like Ms. Marvel and Photon as poised to take over the galactic security job from her. So it’s possible that she will die in Secret Wars and pass on her mantle to either of the two new heroes. But our bet is more on Monica Rambeau.
