Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s trailer had all of us gasping with questions about what was coming. Theories were floating around about the death of various characters immediately. And Kevin Feige added fuel to the fire by stating at CCXP 2022 that the movie was MCU’s peak. He said:

“Ant-Man ended Phase 2 and now kicking off Phase 5 in such a huge way, much like Scott Lang himself going from this petty criminal coming out of jail to see his daughter to saving the world in Endgame. I love that the Ant-Man franchise is now at the peak of the MCU and kicking off Phase 5.”

Feige’s statement raised eyebrows because it implied that Ant-Man 3 is going to be bigger than Endgame. But it might very well be because the movie will explore the Quantum Realm and establish Kang as the next big MCU villain. And the best way to do so is by killing off Scott. But that’s not all. During the trailer revealed at Brazil Comic Con, in the final few seconds, there’s a narration by Kang telling Ant-Man, that he possesses the knowledge of the end of his reality. Furthermore, in the SDCC 2022 teaser, Kang asked Ant-Man if he had been killed by him before.

So we think that these are indications that Scott might die in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and here’s how:

1) Scott Will Be Killed By Kang In Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania

The biggest theory is of course that Scott Lang will get killed by Kang at the end of the movie. How he will die is a mystery. But he may antagonize the villain enough to make him kill Scott to pave the path towards his freedom from the Quantum Realm. Also, the SDCC 2022 teaser hinted that Kang has killed Ant-Man before and has knowledge of it. So he might do it again to remove the threat from his way.

2) He Will Die Saving Cassie In Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania

Scott Lang loves his daughter more than anything in the world. And he wants to be a hero in her eyes. As such, we think that he will die saving Cassie and truly become a hero to her. Also, his sacrifice might fuel her to go on a path of revenge to kill Kang. And with Kate Bishop rumored to appear in the movie, it might just lead them to take the initial steps to form the Young Avengers.

Also, logically, MCU after Endgame has been all about exploring the legacy of the original Avengers. As such, it makes sense that Scott will pass on his mantle to his daughter, who will become Stature.

3) Trapped In The Quantum Realm

It’s possible that Scott won’t die in the literal sense of the word. Maybe, he will trap himself in the Quantum Realm with Kang to prevent the villain from escaping. After all, we saw in Ant-Man 2 that Janet van Dyne was trapped there for years before Scott and others found a way to get her out. Now, the trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania shows a machine Cassie has built to go into the Quantum Realm. So if they destroy that machine, Kang might not get out. The unfortunate casualty will probably be that Scott will have to trap himself as well to prevent the villain from ever getting out.

4) Sacrificing Himself To Stop Kang And MODOK

The Funko pop released for Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania has confirmed MODOK to be in the film. And in the trailer, Kang asked Scott to help him get something back (possibly his chair from MODOK). We think this will ultimately lead to a fight at the end, and Scott will die to prevent Kang from escaping the Quantum Realm. Now, whether that sacrifice will be worth it or not remains to be seen because we already know that Avengers: Kang Dynasty is coming.

5) Scott Goes Insane After Getting Trapped In A Time Loop

Another theory states that since one can use the Quantum realm to time travel, so Kang might use the Pym Particles and his powers to trap Scott in a time loop he can never escape. So the loop plus the realm might make him insane. After all, it was mentioned in Ant-Man 2 that the Quantum Realm can mess with one’s mind. Although this theory is far-fetched since till now, we know that time does pass in the Quantum Realm, but it’s worth considering.
