Agatha Harkness shot to fame after making her MCU appearance in the villainous WandaVision miniseries. Agatha Harkness’s character development in the Disney Plus series was significantly different from that shown in the comics, and the program omitted key details about the witch’s mysterious past. A lot of people don’t know this, but Agatha Harkness has a startling backstory.
With that being said, Here are a few facts that I’m sure you didn’t know about Agatha Harkness.
Numerous witches rely on relatives, which are creatures whose souls have been taken over by bad forces. These companions are frequently kitties and black cats in particular. In the same way, Agatha seems to have a black cat named Ebony who serves as her favorite. Ebony, her familiar, is a strong being from another realm who sometimes takes the form of a cat.
Because of their psychic connection, Agatha often assigns Ebony out on missions for her. When threatened, Ebony may morph into a huge monster with incredible agility and ferocious fangs. Not only is it very tough to break, but the only method to destroy it is to disperse its molecular components across a large region.
Despite being a witch, Agatha Harkness took several precautions to secure her own safety. In New Salem, wherein she entered a coven of witches that had been there for generations. Agatha ultimately became the group’s heady cocktail and betrayed some of her fellow witches to the officials who were responsible for their deaths.
She accomplished this covertly while her real mission was to purge New Salem of its less powerful witches. Does darkness lurk in Agatha Harkness’s heart? Certainly not! In the comics, she does both good and evil, existing mostly in the grey region between the two extremes.
Agatha has been alive for quite some time, and during her existence, she has utilized her magical abilities to aid humanity on several occasions. She, like many others, arrived in America in search of opportunity and refuge from oppression; when the Groundbreaking War broke out, she battled for the fledgling country, supporting the Daughters of Liberty and sometimes even instructing them in the use of witchcraft.
Also, she ended the Nazi dubbed Hilda Von Hate’s menace by joining the Department of the Uncanny and fighting against the supernatural side of the Axis forces throughout World War II.
Agatha Harkness’s tenure as Franklin’s babysitter with the Fantastic Four ended, and she eventually joined the Scarlet Witch’s team. Agatha took on the role of babysitter for the newly born babies of Vision and Scarlet Witch.
When they were first conceived, both Agatha Harkness, as well as Mephisto, had a hand. Wanda used her sorcery to make her offspring, and Agatha knows perfectly well that she had included bits of Mephisto’s spirit in the process. The kids have whisked away and Agatha wiped their thoughts from Wanda’s memory.
Agatha Harkness, who lost two children, is now trying to assist Wanda to learn to rein in her chaotic abilities. Both Agatha, as well as the Avengers, recognized that Scarlet Witch has formidable abilities and required guidance in learning to rein in her strength.
Doctor Strange said he volunteered to assist Wanda, but she had to prioritize her work with the Avengers. The Scarlet Witch managed to bring back Wonder Man thanks to Agatha’s assistance in making Wanda more powerful. Though she had access to these abilities, she never understood to properly use them.
Agatha is one of the most formidable magicians in the Marvel Universe. Given that Agatha has been alive for centuries, exploring the globe and absorbing as much magical knowledge as she can. One should not meddle with someone who can convince a being from another realm to serve them by transforming into a cat.
Through the use of her powers, Agatha has been able to stay alive for what seems like an eternity, revive many times, and aid the superheroes of the Marvel comics in their fights when it serves her goals. While she is not the supreme sorcerer, her magic is quite potent.
After Wanda established a new planet in House of M and was branded an eternal enemy by the X-Men on M-Day, she really fell from grace. When she realized that her children lived and had been snatched from her, she quickly lost the confidence of even her superhero friends. In the same arc, Wanda killed Agatha after discovering her involvement in the deceit and then turned on the rest of the Avengers.
