The Mandalorian season 2 left us with some (okay like a LOT) questions. Now since there’s still a pretty sizable stretch of time till season 3 premieres so we have tried to answer some of the most common questions. But before we move on to the question, let’s jog your memory of season 2 with a quick recap of the finale and where we stand.

What Happened In The Mandalorian Season 2 Finale?

The end of season 2 of The Mandalorian saw our titular character become DarkSaber’s sole owner and defeat Moff Gideon. Of course, this was before Luke Skywalker took Grogu with him for training. So now that we have brought season 2 to the forefront of your mind, it’s time to start with the questions, and we have 8 of them here.

8 Burning Questions About Season 3 Of The Mandalorian

1. When Will Season 3 Of The Mandalorian Be Released?

Mandalorian Season 3

Thankfully the pandemic didn’t affect the filming of The Mandalorian season 3. The show was projected to begin filming on April 5, 2021, and it looks like filming has indeed begun. This is a huge sigh of relief and basically means that season 3 won’t be pushed back. Now, we don’t know the exact date when season 3 will drop, but if everything goes right then it should drop in early 2022.

2. When Can We Expect Season 3 Trailer Of The Mandalorian?

Mandalorian, Grogu and Bokatan

Well, there can only be a trailer after they have filmed at least a large chunk of the season first. Not to mention that there’s VFX which needs to be done as well. So don’t expect any trailers anytime soon. In fact, we predict that it will be late 2021 to early 2022 before we get even a teaser.

3. Who Will Be Directing Season 3 Of The Mandalorian?

Season one and two of the hit show was helmed by plenty of talented people. Superstars like Bryce Dallas Howard received a lot of critical and fan acclaim for the two episodes that she directed. So we would love to have her back again. However, Lucasfilm hasn’t released the list of directors who will be coming on board for season 3 and so speculating right now will probably lead nowhere.

However, we would certainly love to see Taika Waititi direct an episode of the show. Now, he isn’t a stranger to the show since he did voice droid IG-11 back in season 1. Oh yes, there is also the little fact that he directed the season 1 finale. So having him back isn’t an impossibility.

Also apart from him, it’s possible that executive producers Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau will direct another couple of episodes. Perhaps Rick Famuyiwa will join them and direct his 4th The Mandalorian episode as well.

Yes, we mentioned that speculation will be in vain, but what if Rian Johnson, as well as Colin Trevorrow, step in to direct an episode each as well? Well, that will just be the cherry on the topping.

4. How Will Season 3 Connect With The Spin-off Shows?

It has been confirmed now that shows like Rangers of the New Republic, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka are set in the MandoVerse. So with 3 spin-off shows already in development, we can’t help but ask if season 3 will serve to be a proper jumping-off point for another batch of shows?

Right now, we think that Lando Calrissian can very well make his own appearance in the show. Also, some of The Bad Batch characters can surely pop in, perhaps in a way similar to Bo-Katan Kryze’s season 2 appearance?

5. Will Timothy Olyphant’s Cobb Vanth Or Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Return?

Cobb Vanth

Right now, apart from Pedro Pascal, no one else is confirmed to appear. So fan favourite appearances like that of Timothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth or Carl Weathers as Greef Karga are all up in the air for now. The same actually goes for Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze.

However since the finale of season 2 saw her being put in a sticky situation with the Darksaber, so it makes sense that she will return to put an end to that storyline.

6. What Will Happen To Baby Yoda After The Mandalorian Season 2?

This is the biggest question that is on everyone’s lips. Now, we would love to see Din Djarin be reunited with his adopted son, but the goodbye between the two in the season 2 finale felt final in a lot of ways. But Grogu is also one of the major reasons why a lot of people watch the show. As such, whether he will appear in season 3 or not is still a mystery.

After all, there are plenty of ways Grogu could show up in season 3, but even if he doesn’t, the character is just way too popular to not appear elsewhere in the Star Wars verse.

7. Will There Be More Cameos In Season 3?

We hope so! After season 2 steered away from the path set by season 1 by bringing in a lot of familiar faces from various parts of the Star Wars Universe, we want to see more. So after Ahsoka Tano, Luke Skywalker, and Boba Fett, we hope that season 3 goes bigger and brings in more familiar faces. After all, everyone enjoyed this ‘fan service’ a lot last season.

If it was up to us then we would bring in a de-aged Han Solo (Harrison Ford) or perhaps mix in the Ewoks. The possibilities are endless, however, we suspect that Covid and the subsequent travel restrictions will play a role in what cameos can be done.

8. How Will The Show Handle Gina Carano’s Firing?

This is the biggest elephant in the room- after all, Gina Carano’s Cara Dune played a pretty notable role in season 2 and especially the finale. So now the question is- will Lucasfilm recast her or will they simply kill her off-screen?

We aren’t sure what will happen since both of these options hold equal weightage. However, if you asked us to choose, then we feel like they could recast the actress and simply carry on as nothing happened.

Gina Carano as Cara Dune

This seems like a more probable option since it would allow the show to continue on without any issues in terms of plotline or fan objections. After all, it’s not Cara Dune’s fault that her actress was fired for posting really controversial social media posts.

So here are the top 8 questions about season 3 of The Mandalorian that we wanted to address. Now, whether we are right or wrong, that will be revealed when the show premieres. Till then keep an eye on this space as we will update you about any developments regarding The Mandalorian as soon as it happens.
