In a recent interview, Ben Affleck firmly denied any plans to direct a film for James Gunn’s DC Universe, contradicting previous statements made by Gunn. Gunn had also mentioned that Affleck has been collaborating with the DC team.

Affleck’s refusal to direct in the interconnected DC Universe may stem from the creative restrictions it imposes on creators. However, with DC Studios exploring Elseworlds stories, such as The Batman – Part II and Joker 2: Folie à Deux, there may still be an opportunity for Affleck to direct a standalone DC project with greater creative freedom.
