The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) exploration of different genres has been made possible through Disney+ shows, and it looks like this trend will continue in Phase 5 with “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.”
Success Of Musical Elements in WandaVision
Fans were surprised by the musical numbers in WandaVision’s sitcom-type format. The show even won an Emmy for its original song, “Agatha All Along,” which was performed by Agatha Harkness actress Kathryn Hahn. Hawkeye also featured a Captain America-focused musical in its first installment, leading to a real-life MCU showcase of the same name.
Patti LuPone Confirms Musical Elements In “Agatha: Coven of Chaos”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Patti LuPone, who stars in “Agatha: Coven of Chaos,” confirmed that the new Disney+ series will feature musical numbers. LuPone shared that they are a “coven” led by Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness, and she reiterated that she is a “450-year-old Sicilian witch” whose power is divination.
LuPone confirmed that the witches in the series will sing, and the songs have been written by Kristen and Bobby Lopez, the same composers as WandaVision. The actress described the experience as “great fun” and praised the show for its craft, with no CGI used in the musical performances.
Will “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” Replicate The Success Of WandaVision?
With the promising news that “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” will have musical elements similar to WandaVision, it remains to be seen if the show will replicate the success of its predecessor, especially since Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff has not been confirmed to appear. However, the show’s unique performances by the coven of witches, combined with catchy tunes from the same composers as “Agatha All Along,” could be a recipe for success.
