Star Wars has been doing great lately. Now, the content that Lucasfilm is putting out isn’t on par with Marvel. But it has ambitious plans which it’s making known.

Till now, we have watched great Star Wars content like The Bad Batch and Visions. The latter especially was a great show that breathed new life into the franchise. However, fans were still thirsting for live-action content.

Thankfully, that’s coming this year with The Book of Boba Fett’s premiere. Also, next year, fans will have three or four shows to enjoy. One of the upcoming shows is Ahsoka. It will follow the titular character in her first solo project. Portrayed by Rosario Dawson, Ahsoka made her live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian. But now that she is getting her show, what can Star Wars fans expect going into it?

Right now, we don’t have many details. However, we know that Dave Filoni, the original creator of the character, is penning the series. So audiences should at least expect an authentic story with Ahsoka. Dave Filoni recently sat down for an interview with Empire. He talked about Ahsoka and his progress writing the show. The writer said that it had been a thrilling experience writing the character. He said:

“It’s thrilling, I gotta tell you… It’s something you imagine doing for a long time. And then it’s kind of startling when you’re sitting there, and now you have to do it.”

Regarding the story he is telling with her, Filoni recruited that he had this adventure for Ahsoka in mind for a long time. He said:

“I thought of this adventure for Ahsoka for a long time, and it’s interesting to see how it’s evolved… years ago, I never would have imagined that it was sprung from a branch of a tree that had anything to do with a guy [like] Din Djarin, or a child that looks like Yoda. It’s a great lesson for me on how, when you have other creatives like Jon Favreau, they can help lend such dimension and depth to what you’re doing.”

A Relief For Fans

Having Dave Filoni be in the writer’s chair will be a huge relief for many character fans. After all, this is the man who created the hit shows The Clone Wars and Rebels. So audiences were ecstatic when it was revealed that elements from the early animated stories would be brought into live-action. First came Bo-Katan, and then came Ahsoka. And very soon, fans will get to see Sabine Wren in live-action too.

Over the years, many fans have felt that Lucasfilm was ignoring the Prequel era. Now, the company’s approach has changed. And the credit goes to The Mandalorian. This one show has shifted the entire dynamic of Star Wars. As such, the studio is comfortable exploring what it once avoided. Hopefully, Ahsoka takes the Star Wars franchise to newer heights. Right now, the show doesn’t have a release date, but fans can check out The Book of Boba Fett, which releases on December 29 later this year.
