While addressing the Marie Claire magazine in 2018, Alexandra Daddario expressed her desire for gender equality and fair compensation. She emphasized the need for equal pay for women in the industry, including herself. Furthermore, she called attention to the lack of opportunities for women, highlighting the fact that only around 12 percent of movies are directed by women.

“I’d like to see women get equal pay, obviously. I would like to be paid equally to my male co-stars. I think that there should be more opportunities for women. I think it’s absurd that there are roughly only 12 percent of movies that are directed by women,” said Daddario.

Alexandra Daddario also discussed the importance of creating an environment where women feel empowered to speak up against injustices. She acknowledged the challenges women face, including the shame and silencing they often experience when attempting to address these issues. However, she highlighted the changing landscape and the significance of providing women with platforms where their voices will be heard.

“I’d like to see that when something is wrong, women can have the courage and platform to speak up and people will listen. I know in the past when something happens, a; there’s a huge deal of shame, and b; if you do speak up, you are sort of shamed to silence. So I think that’s what’s changing and that’s what’s important,” stated Daddario.

During the interview, Alexandra Daddario candidly shared her personal experiences as a woman in the entertainment industry. She acknowledged the challenges faced by women in speaking up and the societal issues that contribute to their silence. She emphasized the need for change and the ongoing struggle for gender equality and empowerment.

“Although suppressing the bad things that have happened and being strong and moving on is a testament to women’s strength, it is also a huge societal problem of women not being able to speak up or being afraid to speak up, or thinking that things should be one way when they really shouldn’t be that way, and I think that’s what we are grappling with right now,” Daddario further expressed.
