The MCU is chugging along nicely and still reaching new heights that no one ever thought existed before. Right now Kevin Feige is busy developing Phase 4 of the MCU, and this time they are playing with the multiverse.

2022 is going to be a big year for the MCU, and as a bonus, it has a ton of hype after the massive success of the multiverse movie Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Tom Holland’s third solo outing as the MCU’s Spider-Man had heroes and villains from previous Spider-Man movies showing up.

It was 2021’s biggest movie and told an amazing impactful story. There were a lot of moments when the audience roared and cheered in the theater.

One of them was when Maguire and Garfield entered Ned Leeds’ apartment through the portals. Their appearance confirmed what fans had suspected all along, that Garfield and Maguire’s spidermen were indeed in the movie.

Garfield’s return was much more anticipated than Maguire’s, since many felt that he was being snubbed out of his own Spider-Man Trilogy. Also, he was the one who publicly denied his involvement with the movie every time he was asked.

So there was a euphoric rush when he first showed up through the sling ring portal. Right now, both of the previous Peter Parkers are MCU canon and are still alive in their own universes.

As such, many fans are now asking when they will be able to see them next. Recently, Andrew Garfield said that he would like to continue playing Spider-Man and shared how he would want his Peter’s story to go.

Spider-Man: No Way Home star Andrew Garfield sat down with Variety for an interview about a potential comeback as Spider-Man in future projects. He said that he would definitely take the right opportunity, but ultimately he said that it’s, “all about service to the greater good.”

So even though he seems open to reprising the role after No Way Home, he himself has said that he would only take on the role if he is “very sure and certain” of his ability to portray the iconic character.

Here’s his full quote;

“I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right. Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many. He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.”

Andrew Garfield’s love and passion for Peter Parker and Spider-Man are unmatched. Even in the No Way Home movie, it can be seen that he is feeling exuberant after stepping into the role of Spider-Man again after 7 years.

Now that Marvel Studios is exploring their multiverse and Sony is busy developing their own spidey universe, there is always an opportunity, and now more than ever before, for Garfield to return once again.

As for when he will be showing up next as the web crawler, that no one can surely tell for now. but as per Garfield, it has to be the right project, and he too has to be confident in his ability to portray the role.

After all, empathizing with the character is what Garfield (and basically any good actor) does, no matter the role he takes on. And it’s definitely important for Spider-Man.

As of now, Garfield doesn’t have any ties to Sony Pictures or Marvel Studios, and there are also no plans for any future Spidey movies with any other Spider-Man than Tom Holland’s.

However, the fan campaign for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is going strong since many still want to see Andrew put on the classic blue and red suit for future adventures.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters worldwide.
