Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer, Jeff Loveness, recently revealed that Janet van Dyne (played by Michelle Pfeiffer) had additional superpowers that were cut from the final version of the movie. In the first official outing, Janet did not have much to do except show off some vague healing powers. However, the third outing gave her a more significant purpose in the story, especially in the face of Jonathan Majors’ terrifying Kang the Conqueror.

Janet Once Had Phasing Abilities

According to Loveness, Janet had a version of Ghost’s phasing abilities that came from the Multiversal core, which she obtained after a clash with Kang in the past. The screenwriter revealed that Janet’s phasing powers were tied to her traumas and that they destabilized her hands. However, getting on the road to explore her full potential might lead to an untimely grave.

Loveness stated that Janet used her phasing abilities to keep Hank and herself hidden, which explains the light going over them, but it was cut from the final version of the movie because it was too much shoe leather to explain.

Given the relationship between Janet and Kang that Quantumania set up, it’s safe to assume that Pieffier’s hero will factor into Avengers: The Kang Dynasty more than one might think. The upcoming movie may also offer the perfect opportunity for an older Wasp with some handy-dandy Quantum Realm-based abilities to explore the full potential of what she could be. However, there’s always the chance that getting on that road could lead to an untimely grave.
