We See A New Variant Of Kang In The Film’s End-credit Scene — And That Ties Into Loki Season 2.
A new Thanos has emerged, and this one intends to conquer rather than simply dust the humanity. In the Ant-Man threequel, Jonathan Majors makes his debut as Kang the Conqueror, and courtesy of the post-credit scenes, we get to know even more variants of Kang.
As usual with Marvel, Quantumania includes a glimpse of the future with a bonus scene that seamlessly transitions into something else. This time, however, Quantumania is trying to get fans excited for something other than Ant-Man 4 or the upcoming Avengers movie. Instead, it’s the premiere of an upcoming season of a Marvel series on Disney+.
Loki Season 2
The post-credit scene transports us to the 19th century, where a man named Victor Timely (Majors) demonstrates a device before a surprised audience. Among the audience are Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson).
Mobius does not seem to think Timely is particularly dangerous, but Loki is certain that the man on stage poses a significant threat to humanity as we know it. So who is Victor Timely, and what does he have to do with Loki?
Victor Timely
Victor Timely is one of Kang’s many alter identities in the comics. After being defeated by the Avengers, Kang returns to 1901 and poses as a talented human scientist competing with the likes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Kang adopts the name “Victor Timely” and founds the town of Timely, Wisconsin. There he serves as both mayor and local industrialist.
Victor demonstrates his industrial acumen while serving as mayor of Timely and developing amazing new technologies. Of course, since he is really Kang, it turns out that the city of Timely is really just there to serve as a new base of operations from which to launch his next attack.
It’s likely that the MCU Timely is also the Kang Prime of this timeline. He is living in a time when he can plan villainous activities long before the Avengers arrive to annoy him. That would explain Loki’s hunt for him.
It’s possible that this is the same Kang we encountered in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (whose fate remained unknown in the final showdown). It would make more cinematic sense if the variant of the character we spent time with turns out to be Kang Prime.
Victor Timely in Quantumania is most likely a variant of Kang from the MCU. A scientist who discovered the multiverse in the 22nd century and fought his own versions for control of the quest. Since one of these variants was visited by Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) and Loki in the Loki finale. Our beloved anti-hero is aware of the potential danger posed by these variants.
Loki Season 2
Loki’s motivation for seeking this specific Kang variant is not known. However, it is possible that he is another iteration of the persona from earlier in his story. He may be trying to put an end to the villain’s career from the beginning.
The upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty suggests that things will not go smoothly once again. More will likely be revealed in Loki season 2, which is set to be released this summer on Disney Plus.
When Loki season 2 premieres this summer on Disney+, Mobius and Loki will almost certainly explore the city of Timely.
Will the two be able to stop Kang from inflicting more chaos? It seems like it’s going to be impossible. After all, Avengers 5 is officially called The Kang Dynasty.
