Dwayne Johnson’s DC film, Black Adam, is doing decent business at the box-office, but it won’t be wrong to say that it has been completely overshadowed by the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This has restarted discussions about the rivalry between Marvel and DC. And Black Adam’s lead, Dwayne Johnson, has commented on this unabating fan war.

Dwayne Johnson Comments About Marvel vs DC War

Marvel and DC are two juggernauts comic book franchises. As such, it’s expected that they will inspire fan wars akin to tribalism. And this war has been spurred on by creative and cast comments from both sides of the fence. Now, the latest star to comment on this matter is Dwayne Johnson. During an interview on iHeartRadio’s YouTube channel he talked about the heated Marvel and DC competition.

He said that there’s no war and neither is the DCU going after the MCU. He said:

“I’ve been asked that question a lot. Are we going after… When I talk about this is the new era in the DC Universe with Black Adam, are we going after Marvel? Is that what I mean by that? The answer is no. We’re not going to do that and I and there is no ‘war’ between DC and between MCU. that’s my opinion.”

The action star said that there’s only ever going to be one Marvel and one DC. He stated:

“Now, that we have laid the groundwork for Black Adam for the JSA, as we usher in a new era of the DC Universe, build out the DC Universe, I don’t think there’s a war, because there’s only one Marvel that will always be only one Marvel. And I mean that respectfully. Kevin Feige, I love him… But also there’s only one DC. And there’s only one Black Adam, and there’s only one Justice League, and there’s only one JSA. And so, I want to continue to build out the DC world.”

He further explained his one Marvel and one DC comment and said:

“I don’t want to be like Marvel, and I mean that respectfully. I want to be DC. I want us to be our own brand, and our own identity, and we’re proud of that.”

Is A MCU And DCU Crossover Possible?

On this the star said in the same interview that he would love the two brands to come together. He said:

“Now, I would love one day for the two brands to converge, like we did in wrestling, because that’s how we think. Because ultimately, what will always guide my hand and will always be my North Star is taking care of the fans… But… I think the key with brands converging the right way is to have the right people sitting at the table, having the right conversations. But that’s down the line. There’s only one Marvel. There will always be only one Marvel. But there’s only one DC too.”

Dwayne Johnson is all about listening to fans and he feels that down the line a crossover might be possible. It’s interesting to note that he isn’t the first person to say such. Previously it was reported that the new DC CEO, James Gunn, also tried to make a Marvel and DC crossover happen, but that unfortunately didn’t come to fruition. It remains to be seen when such a crossover materialises.
