Will ASM 3 be a reality soon? Spider-Man: No Way Home fulfilled the hopes of Marvel fans from all periods. Returning villains such as Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx’s Electro were also featured in the film. To top it off, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire reprised their spidey roles.  Fans have been calling for Garfield’s return to the MCU for a very long time.

Garfield has been hailed as one of the best live-action actors to portray the character. He and Emma Stone, who played Gwen Stacy in the Amazing Spider-Man movies, have given their all to the role. There’s a growing “Sony-verse” featuring characters like Venom and Morbius. Furthermore, Garfield has stated that he’d be open to returning as Peter Parker in future projects.

Garfield finally had the opportunity to discuss both the film and the future of his portrayal of the character in light of his recent appearance on NWH. The actor, who plays Peter Parker in the Spider-Man films, recently spoke about his hopes for the character’s future.

The Future of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man

Speaking about Spider-Man: No Way Home and his future as the web-slinger, Andrew Garfield recently appeared on The Happy Sad Confused podcast. According to Garfield, he is “really humbled” by the response that No Way Home has received from fans. The actor also thanked Sony’s Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige “for bringing (him) back.”

“There’s this other thing that you’ve alluded to where you feel seen and appreciated and welcomed and feel a part of a character that you’ve always wanted to be a part of. I’m really humbled by it to be honest. I’m very, very touched by it, and I owe a lot of that to Amy Pascal and Kevin (Feige) for bringing me back into the fold and allowing me to have another crack, and to audiences for their generosity.”

Garfield has also stated that he wants to “make a difference in people’s lives” through the films that he is involved in:

“I’m really humbled man, and all I want to do is be a part of stories that make a difference in people’s lives. So to have that being reflected back and for people to be saying that that’s what is happening is all the satisfaction that I want.”

Something Fun For Garfield’s Spidey

The actor then discussed the character’s future, saying once more that he “is open” to returning as Spider-Man under “very special” and “unique” circumstances: Spider-Man actor Peter Parker:

“In terms of moving forward with the character, yes, I am definitely open to that. Again, it would have to be something very unique, very special, and of service to the audience, of service to the character.”

According to him, “there’s something playful and unique” about the character’s future, and if it can be achieved, he’s onboard:

“I think there’s something playful and unique and odd and unexpected to be done. I’m not sure what that is, but if we can figure that out, then that would be so much fun.”

Spidey/Garfield and Venom/Tom Hardy

Fans have suggested a possible crossover between Garfield’s Spider-Man and Tom Hardy’s Venom in a hypothetical The ASM 3, to which Garfield appeared fascinated by, calling that a “cool idea” Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man will fit right in with Sony’s new universe. For whatever reason, the logo of Oscorp appears in the Morbius teaser, which is a reference to Garfield’s two Amazing Spider-Man films.

An image of Spider-Man hanging on a wall behind Morbius is also shown in the teaser. When Garfield claims he “stopped pulling (his) punches” in No Way Home, the word “murderer” painted on the wall next to Spidey might have been used to clarify the line of speech.

As a writer, Garfield should look no further than Venom for inspiration. It doesn’t get much more out-of-the-ordinary than a comic book movie in which the protagonist eats a live lobster. What a great idea it would be for Venom and Spider-Man to join forces to battle crime and bring a few chuckles to ASM 3.
