A new Avengers team in Avengers 5 could be built on the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. MCU’s Infinity Saga focused on the Avengers, with each instalment either developing toward an Avengers team-up or engaging with their battles’ aftermath. A new franchise-wide team-up hasn’t been established despite the addition of numerous new characters in Phase 4. This, however, could change prior to the arrival of Phase 5.

Despite its centrality to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wakanda hasn’t had the impact one might expect after being made public. At the end of Black Panther, the throne of Wakanda opened its doors and took a stand against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

However, other than helping Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson in their battle against the Flag-Smashers in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wakanda has yet to show how much it can change the world. Thanks to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Wakanda can become the home of the next generation of the Avengers as well as introduce the new Black Panther.

Facing Future Threats

Cap: Civil War established superheroes as establishments that must be monitored. At a time when other heroes and villains are constantly springing up, it’s more difficult than ever to keep track of them all. A new team of Avengers could benefit from Wakanda’s sponsorship because the legal position of personal superheroes is still hazy. Because of Wakanda’s decision to open up its resources to the rest of the world, they can be trusted.

No matter what happens to the aristocracy in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a new team of superheroes could be selected and represented by the country, potentially making them available to other governments in the event that they are needed. For future threats as large as Thanos, Wakanda could provide the team with the required resources, training, and gear.

The downside is that the rest of the world and even Wakandans themselves may begin to doubt Wakanda’s authority as a result. However, Wakanda’s new role as the Avengers’ base of operations has the potential to elevate the Earth’s godlike heroes to Olympus-like status.

A key resource for the next Avengers team is Wakanda’s reputation as a generous and open kingdom. There would be fewer legal and political barriers for new heroes like Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Shang-Chi, and She-Hulk, who would focus solely on protecting the planet. Even though Black Panther: Wakanda Forever may not be released until after Avengers 5, it can begin to lay the groundwork for a more prepared group of heroes.
