The film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released in theatres soon. Unfortunately, Chadwick Boseman’s portrayal of T’Challa, the first Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, won’t be in this film as Boseman sadly passed away in August 2020 after a continuous and difficult cancer battle.

Marvel said that the production team had decided to pay homage to the actor and T’Challa’s legacy inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe rather than recasting the part for Black Panther 2. While there has undoubtedly been a lot of backlash from some MCU fans, this story aims to pay tribute to Boseman’s memory as Wakanda develops.

There is a clear vision of what this new adventure would have been like if Boseman was still alive. Now that the specifics of that first narrative have come to light, fans can speculate about what the late actor who played the King of Wakanda might have been up to.

Additionally, the sequel was initially “based on T’Challa’s perspective,” according to director Ryan Coogler, who also described the narrative as a “character study” that had the typical Marvel action and adventure.

T’Challa’s growth as a leader and Boseman’s character received a lot of attention in the script that he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole, with Wakanda continuing to establish itself as a global presence after the first film.

Marvel Studios said that after agreeing to continue with Black Panther 2 without T’Challa, it felt almost natural to have “someone else carrying up the mantle.” But once that choice had been made, the entire plot and narrative had to make sense as well.

Despite Chadwick Boseman’s making appearances in four MCU films over the course of the Infinity Saga, none of them had the opportunity to really explore his identity. Even in his own solo film, Black Panther (2018) had the difficult task of introducing viewers to a completely new MCU universe while bringing a number of significant heroes and villains to the spotlight for the first time.

In a post-Avengers: Endgame adventure that put Wakanda on a new route to success inside the Marvel narrative, Boseman would have had the chance to once again fully dive into a deep storyline.

However, Boseman’s co-stars will now have the enormous challenge of leading this film as a collective while maintaining the legacy of T’Challa and Boseman to wrap up the MCU’s Phase 4 schedule. Though it’s unclear how the Black Panther will keep influencing the saga after this sequel, Marvel will make every effort to ensure Wakanda glows as brightly as it should.
