Rachel Weisz, who played Melina in Black Widow, recently spoke about the possibility of her character returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While David Harbour and Florence Pugh are confirmed to be appearing in next year’s Thunderbolts, Weisz cast doubts on her own return. This article discusses Weisz’s comments and the possibility of her not being a part of the upcoming anti-hero team-up.

The Possibility Of Melina’s Return

In a recent interview, Weisz revealed that she hasn’t heard anything about her character’s return to the MCU. She said, “No one’s mentioned [Melina] to me for quite some time. I think she’s still living with her pigs that she experiments on. She loves her pigs, they’re buddies.”

While Weisz’s comments suggest that she might not be a part of Thunderbolts, it’s worth noting that actors’ statements about their future in the MCU aren’t always trustworthy. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had previously teased that Weisz’s character would return in the future.

Thunderbolts was initially teased as a spiritual successor to Black Widow, with three of the new team’s main members first introduced in the movie. However, the current rumor is that the film is being reworked, with Lee Sung Jin taking over the writing duties from Eric Pearson, who wrote Black Widow.

Despite this, one would think that Melina might come up in a conversation since both Red Guardian and Yelena’s last moments in Black Widow were alongside Rachel Weisz’s character. As of now, it remains to be seen whether Weisz will skip out on Thunderbolts or make a surprise appearance.
