Boba Fett Sets Up The Mythosaur To Appear In The Mandalorian S3

Warning: Spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett episode 5.

Mythosaur is a legendary Mandalorian creature. It has been discussed in previous Star Wars projects. But the creature is one of lore. This means we haven’t seen any member of this species in any of the shows or movies.

So fans thought that the Mythosaur didn’t exist anymore (if they even existed at all). In the Star Wars franchise, this creature is depicted as a monster with a dragon-like appearance.

Many believe that it lived on Mandalore thousands of years ago. As per the old legends and tales, powerful Mandalorians could tame and ride the monster.

And even though the Mythosaur seemingly went extinct eons ago, they are still a part of Mandalorian culture. These beasts are still revered in the warrior culture because their skull is used as a symbol for their planet and is often associated with their history.

A recent reference to this creature was made in episode 5 of The Mandalorian by the Armorer.

Episode 5 Of The Book of Boba Fett Mentions Mythosaur

In episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett, the Armorer mentions old songs claiming that the Mythosaur would “herald a new age of Mandalore.” She says that this monster “only exists in legends.”

Her remark about it not being real came across as a comment that the creature will eventually appear. Otherwise, bringing up the beast would be pointless.

So by suggesting that this creature just belongs to mythology, The Book of Boba Fett has set up its live-action debut. In the very same episode, we saw the show create a pathway for the creature to show up.

Will We See The Mythosaur In Season 3 Of The Mandalorian?

When Mando was thrown out of his clan, the Armorer said that he could redeem himself by going to the “living waters” present in the mines located below Mandalore. But the mines have been destroyed.

This doesn’t mean that Mando’s hope for redemption is gone. If he needs to go there to rejoin his order, then it makes sense that he will be going to Mandalore first in season 3 of The Mandalorian. And if he really does go there, then we might see a Mythosaur appearance.

The prophecy that The Book of Boba Fett mentions could be a sign of Din Djarin being the planet’s best hope. Defeating Moff Gideon in fair combat and becoming the rightful owner of the black blade is the first step towards him becoming the leader of his people.

Next, if he can successfully tame a mythological beast, then he could accomplish way more than just restoring his place in the clan. You can check out new episodes of The Book of Boba Fett every Wednesday on Disney+.
