Brie Larson Is Reportedly In Talk With Lucasfilm For Mara Jade Role In Star Wars

Anyone who has heard of Brie Larson knows that she is a huge Star Wars fan. In fact, she has even pitched herself to Lucasfilm as their next Star Wars leading lady a few times on social media as well. However, till now nothing has materialized even though Larson’s fans keep hoping that one day Brie will get casted.

Now, it looks like her fan’s dreams are about to come true as there are new rumours doing the rounds that Larson is in talks with Lucasfilm to bring an iconic female character to life in Star Wars.

Brie Larson As Mara Jade?

Several sources have informed us that the Captain Marvel star is in talks with Lucasfilm to bring Mara Jade to life. Now we know that this will probably be a controversial casting but there’s truly no major casting in the Star Wars universe that happens without a bunch of fans disapproving of it. So if this does end up happening then Brie will be fine. After all, she has a lot of experience dealing with trolls.

Mara Jade

But on to the probable good news- Mara Jade, the renowned Legacy character could be making an appearance in live action. But more importantly, she will be brought into Star Wars canon. So let us tell you a bit about Mara Jade.

Who Was Mara Jade?

Mara Jade was originally the Dark Side Emperor’s hand and his top force-sensitive assassin. However, she reformed herself and was in fact married Luke Skywalker before becoming a Jedi Master herself.

Right now, according to canon, it looks like Mara and Luke’s marriage is not there. But even then there’s a lot of her EU story that could be brought over to the canon timeline now. After all, her story is the classic one of a villain becoming a hero and it’s just itching to be brought to live-action.

Will This Casting Actually End Up Happening?

If you are not sure about whether you should trust this rumour or not, then know that these sources are the same ones who confirmed that Ahsoka Tano will be showing up in season 2 of The Mandalorian way before we actually saw it on our screens.

Now, this casting will not surprise the people who have been following the rumours going around about this. Right now our sources are saying that this casting has moved forward from the rumour stage to the it’s-a-possibility stage.

But our sources were not able to say if there are more actors who are auditioning for the role or if Lucasfilm is actively seeking more actors out. But if Larson does get the role, then it’s a possibility that she will show up in Kevin Feige’s Star Wars film due to their previous professional partnership.

Brie Larson As Jedi Fan Art

Brie Larson or not, we would love to see Mara Jade in live-action. After all, fans have wanted this for years. Also, to us it seems like bringing Mara Jade to life is more a question of ‘when’ rather than of ‘if’. However, in the end we will all have to wait and see what Lucasfilm is planning.
