Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder, has spoken out on the possibility of a romantic relationship between her character and Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although Thompson’s portrayal of Valkyrie has only been featured in a handful of Marvel Cinematic Universe films thus far, the character has swiftly gained a devoted fan base.

In the first draft of Thor: Ragnarok, Valkyrie was not only witty and very competent in battle, but she was also revealed to be bisexual. Valkyrie’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future was supposed to entail finding her queen after she became King of New Asgard in Avengers: Endgame.

Fans have adopted Valkyrie and Carol Danvers as their favorite new LGBTQ Marvel ship in the weeks following Captain Marvel’s debut. Valkyrie survived Thanos’ snap and will resurface in Avengers: Endgame. Both Thompson and Brie Larson are huge fans of the reaction and have shared artwork they’ve created as a result on Twitter.

Tessa Thompson Talks About Valkyrie And Captain Marvel

With the recent release of Thor: Love and Thunder, Thompson addressed fan theories that Valkyrie and Captain Marvel had a love connection. In an interview with Pink Villa published before the film’s release, she was questioned whether Brie Larson’s Marvel Cinematic Universe protagonist might become Valkyrie’s queen.

In her reaction, Thompson played it cool, saying that Valkyrie has been too busy to concentrate on her love life. There are many potential suitors for Valkyrie in the star’s work. However, if a romantic pairing between Valkyrie and Captain Marvel does develop, Thompson has no problem with it:

“I, you know, the heart wants what it wants. I don’t… I can’t speak yet to Valkyrie. She hasn’t had a ton of time to focus too squarely on her love life since she’s been besought with a lot of kingly duties.”

Despite Valkyrie’s kingly obligations, Thompson still wants to see her get out of her current relationship. The actress also said that she would be receptive to the notion of the MCU matching her character with Brie Larson’s since she loves spending quality time with her:

“But there are a lot of amazing men, women, other-wordly creatures inside of the MCU and certainly in the canon of characters that could enter the MCU. So, I think there’s so many fish in the sea. She’s single. She’s ready to mingle. And I love, both in the comics, Carol and I… Brie Larson is a good friend of mine and I love spending time with her. So, I wouldn’t be mad at it, for sure.”

When Will The MCU Make This Happen?

It’s unclear at this point if her role in the film is limited to providing assistance in defeating the film’s antagonist or whether there’s more to her presence. Regardless of the circumstances, a relationship between Carol and Valkyrie seems like a natural fit.

When it comes to romantic relationships, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been treading carefully. There hasn’t been a romantic subplot in any recent productions, and when there has been one, the protagonist has always been left alone at the film’s conclusion.
