Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has a lot of surprises hidden under its belt. One of which is the inclusion of Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell). The new poster for Doctor Strange 2 reveals Captain Carter’s shield.

It would be interesting to see Marvel introduce Captain Carter’s live-action hero through Doctor Strange 2. First seen in Marvel’s What If…? series premiere, this alternate universe version of Steve Rogers’ 1940s love interest became an astounding superhero by obtaining the vibranium shield and the super soldier serum. Towards the end of What If…? In Season 1, we saw Captain Carter fight alongside other heroes to defeat the evil Multiversal variant of Doctor Strange.

After her successful Disney+ feature, the character seems to be ready to make a big screen appearance. It was obvious that Captain Carter was returning to the MCU. This is because rumors said that she would be present in at least one episode of Marvel’s What If…? Season 2. But her live-action debut in Doctor Strange 2 is something that Marvel Studios has managed to hide from fans for so long.

Now that the new poster teases the presence of Captain Carter in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we are wondering what her role will be in the sequel. Will the upcoming movie have any connections to What If…?. When Marvel Studios was promoting What If…?, the campaign significantly stressed the show’s importance to the MCU’s greater narrative and its coming future.

So, if Captain Carter is actually making a debut through the Doctor Strange sequel, then the fact aligns with the What If…? marketing promises. It is true that the Disney+ series is an animated project and features an entirely different version of MCU characters. But the latest trailer for Doctor Strange 2 answers the questions about What If…? and its overall scope in the greater MCU story.

Apparently, there are two characters from Marvel’s What If…? that will emerge in the upcoming sequel. The first trailer revealed an evil version of Doctor Strange. Back then, fans speculated the villain to be the one previously seen in What If…?. Now, we have spotted Captain Carter’s shield on the poster. This only supports the hidden link to the series. In addition, there is the subject of Shuma-Gorath. Captain Carter fought the entity in the first episode of What If…? If we put together all the clues available so far, it is certain that Doctor Strange 2’s story has an important connection to the characters of What If…? Season 1.

Not only that, the movie will also explore the Multiverse in greater depth. The concept of multiple alternate universes was as crucial to the movie as it was to the show. The Disney+ show first tested the Multiversal waters, and now it is time for Doctor Strange 2 to further unveil the many mysteries that lie within. It is possible that the movie will reveal Uatu the Watcher himself. The idea makes sense because the Watcher has ties to Captain Carter and Evil Doctor Strange.

Captain Carter’s inclination in Marvel’s What If…? was more towards the good side of things. This means that she will probably act as a helping hand to Strange, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez). Her encounter with Evil Doctor Strange allowed her to be someone more than just a World War II superhero. She was a champion of the Watcher. She was a reliable force of strength in the face of any threat looming in the Multiverse. It is likely that the intriguing events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will drive Captain Carter to join forces with the movie’s team of superheroes to stand strong against the villains.
