Fans recently saw a pic of Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan and went wild. Why? She was wearing a t-shirt with Valkyrie and Captain Marvel standing side-by-side.
The last time we saw Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers together on screen was during a scene in Avengers: Endgame. In that scene, all of the female superheroes of the MCU came together to fight off Thanos and his army.
That scene initially had mixed reviews. But over time, it has shifted to mostly positive. Fans as well as several actors from that scene hoped that the idea could be continued in another movie.
Back then, many wanted to see an A-Force movie. But right now, that doesn’t seem to be on the cards. However, there’s another similar team-up that will happen.
An eagle-eyed fan recently spotted evidence of Valkyrie and Captain Marvel reuniting in The Marvels through a set photo.
Twitter user @haIobearers found out that actor Zenobia Shroff (Muneeba Khan, Kamala Khan’s mother in Ms. Marvel and The Marvels) had posted a pic with a set of headshots.
She had initially posted the pic to celebrate the cast and crew of The Marvels. The headshots, as seen in the top right part of the photo above, show 9 actors.
This includes Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Paris, Park Seo-Joon, Samuel L. Jackson, and Zawe Ashton. Fans noted that the third headshot from the right seems to be of Lashana Lynch (Maria Rambeau). She will be reprising her role as Captain Marvel.
This user then spotted another headshot right next to this one. To Lynch’s right is a headshot of Tessa Thompson, who is set to come back as Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Now, the only possible explanation for Tessa Thompson’s headshot to be in a makeup room with the rest of the officially confirmed cast of the movie is that she too is part of the project.
The Marvels features Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, Monica Rambeau, and now Valkyrie. This could be hinting at the beginning of MCU’s take on the A-Force team-up.
In the comics, the A-Force team is comprised of female characters like She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Medusa, and more. This is what was hinted at in that female team-up scene in Endgame.
We don’t know what kind of a role Tessa Thompson will play in this sequel or what sort of screen time she will have. After all, it could very well just be a cameo.
However, if that’s the case, then it would be odd to have her headshot in a cast line-up and that too right in the middle of it, as well as next to a significant character like Maria Rambeau.
This news must be exciting for fans wanting to see Valkyrie and Captain Marvel together. Several months ago, a reference to Valkyrie was shown in Ms. Marvel. Even Brie Larson herself has wanted Valkyrie to appear alongside the Captain.
People also made fanarts of the two, and Larson said that she’ll “never stop loving this ship” upon seeing all the fanarts.
We will clearly get to know just how much Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie is involved in the shenanigans of the Captain Marvel sequel when The Marvels hits theaters on February 17, 2023.
