GINA CARANO, an American actress and a former mixed martial artist who played the role of CARA DUNE, in the American space western television series THE MANDALORIAN and also in Deadpool, Fast & Furious 6, In the Blood, and many such shows has been in controversy due to several social media posts. She was playing the role of Cara, a former rebel shock trooper and had helped Mando in his expedition to save Baby Yoda from the Imperial remnants, escorted by Moff Gideon. She played this role for the two seasons and received an enormous fan base.

But the enormous fan base has also caused certain tragedies due to her controversial comments on social media. Gina Carano was fired from The Mandalorian and will not be returning to the show as she shared a post on social media concerning Jeffrey Epstein and also indicating that being a Republican is like being Jewish during the Holocaust, in today’s world.

A spokesperson from the Lucas films made a statement that

Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilms and there are no plans for her to be in the future”. And also said that “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable”.

A hashtag #FireGinaCarano was trending on Instagram, although the post was deleted but still the users on the social media called for her firing from the show. Other than her religious comments,  she has also been in controversy for her political comments too, her post on America’s political divide to Nazi Germany and also a post in which she mocked the people wearing masks during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

During the presidential election, she falsely suggested voter fraud.  Though she had removed all these posts the following day still the fans were filled with disgust which pushed the Lucas films to remove the actress from the current show and also from future projects.

The character was even removed from Hasbro’s toy lineup which caused a negative reaction from certain parts of the fanbase. So, it forced Disney to reappear it in the summer’s LEGO Star  Wars. A petition was also released by the fans to rehire Gina, and her followers started to the influx on social media but Disney had totally cut ties with Cara and the actress.

Gina Carano made a statement after the firing that she would be back in the films through The  Daily Wire and avoided any apology, she said

The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams to develop and produce my own film. I cried out and my prayers were answered, I am sending out a  direct message of hope to everyone living in the fear of cancellation by totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel if we don’t let them”.

The company had totally cut ties with Gina and her character in The Mandalorian but the decision to include CARA DUNE in the summer’s LEGO Star Wars definitely raises some suspicion, that if Gina would be back in the Star Wars or not. Despite, Disney’s intense statement at the time of the firing and still not choosing to cut down her merchandise certainly raises questions. But for now, it’s totally unclear that this LEGO will roll out in the United States or not. Well, it’s better to stay tuned until the final confirmation from the team.
