After the conclusion of the Skywalker trilogy with the controversial Rise of the Skywalker, the focus of Star Wars content has shifted from the silver screen to streaming. This shift was spearheaded by the unprecedented success of The Mandalorian.

After this, other spin-off shows like Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, etc., have followed. Not to mention that other shows set during or around the same timeline of The Mandalorian like Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, etc., are being made.

But this is not to say that there are no theatrical Star Wars projects in development. Most notably, movies from Taika Waititi, Patty Jenkins, and Kevin Feige are all in the pipeline.

But these will take years to develop since all of these people are busy with other projects as well. So, for now, Disney+ will continue to be the central focus of the Star Wars universe, and 2022 is going to be a particularly big year.

After all, shows like The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, season 3 of The Mandalorian, and season 2 of The Bad Batch will all be premiering then. But has season 3 of The Mandalorian even begun filming?

The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian shocked fans with its cliffhanger, and since then fans are eagerly anticipating season 3. But after almost a year since the last ep was released, it appears that little progress has been made on making further episodes.

But that is definitely changing since one actor has confirmed that he will start shooting season 3 of the popular Star Wars show immediately.

Mandalorian’s Greef Karga actor Carl Weathers recently posted on Twitter that he will start shooting for season 3 on October 13, 2021. By now, we are hoping that he will have begun filming, and if the leaks are anything to go by, then production on season 3 of the Disney+ show seems to be in full swing.

You can check out Carl Weather’s tweet below:

Weather’s tweet also confirms the recent reports stating that cameras will begin rolling on The Mandalorian in September 2021 and continue till about March of 2022.

Right now, lead Pedro Pascal is still not on the sets of The Mandalorian. He is busy shooting for HBO’s The Last of Us. However, Disney isn’t waiting any longer, and they are making full use of the helmet-hidden aspect of the character to start production.

However, this isn’t something new that Disney has done. Even during seasons 1 and 2, stunt actors did complete scenes, and later on, Pedro Pascal added his voice.

One such actor even confirmed that he did act on The Mandalorian and that some of Mando’s movements are that of his own. However, this wasn’t done for the full duration of the shoot before and that certainly won’t be the case now.

It’s probably just a matter of weeks till Pascal comes back on the season 3 set of The Mandalorian. So, till then, they are probably either filming scenes of the other actors or getting the stunt work done for Mando since that would anyways require a stuntman to be under the suit.

Since filming has just begun now, so fans need to wait till late 2022 or early 2023 for the season premiere. Thankfully, this long wait won’t be filled with zero content.

Fans will first get to watch The Book of Boba Fett this December. It is a spin-off series starring Temuera Morrison’s iconic bounty hunter who was brought back in season 2 of The Mandalorian.

In fact, it has also been called The Mandalorian 2.5, and chances are that Mando might show up there as well. Apart from this, there’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and season 2 of The Bad Batch as well. So 2022 is stacked for sure.

The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian left fans wanting more after the cliffhanger that saw Grogu go with Luke Skywalker for training. Also, Din himself seems to be on a different path now that he has wielded the Darksaber.

It’s possible that some of these topics will be brought back in The Book of Boba Fett, but if not, then fans will have to wait till season 3 to get the answers.
