When asked which Marvel villain he would most like to portray, Chris Evans has made a shocking choice. Evans has played the Star-Spangled Avenger in the MCU for nearly ten years, beginning with 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger and continuing through the current roster of four Avengers films.

In the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, he made his final appearance as Steve Rogers. Since then, he’s been occupied with projects outside the MCU, the most recent of which is the film Lightyear from Pixar. Although he has been gone from the MCU for some time, thanks to his successful tenure as Captain America, he will always be associated with the film series.

Many fans have speculated for some time that Phase 4’s multiverse exploration would be the perfect way to bring Evans back into the MCU. Evans has stated that he is open to returning but that the story must be worthwhile for him to reprise his role as Steve Rogers.

However, he has stated that he is open to reprising his role as Human Torch, aka Johnny Storm from the Fantastic Four, despite calls for him to play the villainous incarnation of the Star-Spangled Man known as Hydra Cap. However, the villain Chris Evans would play if given the opportunity is one no one would have guessed.

Evans named Tom Hiddleston’s Loki as the Marvel villain he’d most like to play if given a chance, responding to a question posed by Buzzfeed Celebrity. The actor states that the reason is that playing the God of Mischief would be a lot of fun. Below is Evans’ full response.

“If I can play any Marvel villain…Loki seems to have the most fun.”

Loki Could Be The Most Entertaining Marvel Villain

Considering Hiddleston’s lengthy tenure as Loki in the MCU, it would appear that acting as the character is a lot of fun. While it’s fun to watch Hiddleston as the Asgardian Prince on various shows, it’s important to remember that Evans has a first-hand understanding of how much of a wonderful time it could be because he worked with Hiddleston a bunch of times in the MCU, most notably in The Avengers, where the Asgardian Prince is undoubtedly at his most mischievous.

In Avengers: Endgame, they worked together again during the New York portion of the time heist. On the other hand, as Captain America, Evans plays Loki in a cut scene from Thor: The Dark World.

Numerous rumors have been that Evans will reprise his role as Captain America since his departure from the MCU. None of them have worked out so far, and with Sam Wilson now serving as Captain America in the MCU, it may be a while before this ever happens.

Fans, especially after the introduction of the Marvel multiverse, may still picture Evans as a different version of Loki. In theory, this could work because, as we saw in the Loki show, variants can have various physical manifestations. Unfortunately, it’s possible that Marvel Studios isn’t interested in doing that.
