Thor: Love and Thunder’s new trailer teases the tragic death of the title character. Marvel Studios is coming back to the big screen with the Taika Waititi-directed film Thor: Love and Thunder, which continues the Asgardian’s story following the events of Avengers: Endgame. According to the second trailer for Thor 4, this appears to be the final appearance for the God of Thunder.

To put it another way: The first teaser trailer for the film focused primarily on Chris Hemsworth’s character’s personal journey following the Infinity Saga; the full-length official trailer clearly outlines the movie’s overall story, including Jane Foster’s reunion with Thor as Mighty Thor. Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, makes his screen debut in new promotional material from Marvel Studios. The recent Thor: Love and Thunder clip, however, may have clandestinely teased the death of the Avenger in the midst of all of this.

Will Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Sacrifice Himself For Jane?

How Jane Foster Becomes Lady Thor

Thor: Love and Thunder begins with Korg (Taika Waititi) telling the story of the Asgardian hero’s time on Earth and his subsequent weight loss journey following his appearance as Fat Thor in Avengers: Endgame. The Kronan, on the other hand, refers to Thor in the past tense, implying that by the time he remembers Thor’s adventures, the god of thunder is long gone. With no context provided by Korg’s storytelling, it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly when this scene occurs in the picture.

As a result, it isn’t a total surprise that Thor will die in Thor: Love and Thunder, especially when he’s confronted by Gorr the God Butcher. It isn’t out of the question that the Avenger would give up his life to save Jane and everyone else he cares about.

Will God Of Thunder Be The Main Lead?

Why Chris Hemsworth's Last MCU Film Might Be Thor 4

It’s important to keep in mind that dying a physical death isn’t the only option. Bale’s Gorr demands that Thor give up some of his liberties or abilities in Thor: Love and Thunder. As a result, he will be temporarily removed from the MCU, allowing Jane Foster to continue to use the Mighty Thor moniker without having to reveal her true identity to the audience.

Although Marvel Studios appears to be focusing on sequels, origin stories, and smaller teams, it doesn’t appear to have any plans to bring back the Avengers any time soon. Let newer heroes like Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel lead the MCU without completely erasing Thor from the MCU’s lore with this move. Hemsworth will be able to take on new roles, which will help him further his acting career.

Whichever the instance may be, the trailers for Thor: Love and Thunder reveal a solid cast and a solid story. Despite the film’s many twists and turns, the God of Thunder seems to be the main focus as he makes his way through this new chapter in his MCU journey. Marvel Studios has proven time and time again that some characters don’t actually stay dead in the MCU—even Chris Hemsworth’s Thor himself, who has faked his own death multiple times, then ended up dead and was still revived to the franchise as a time-branching variant.
