Following the passing of Chadwick Boseman and T’Challa, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever took us on a very painful trip, but it was also a crucial next step for the larger MCU. We got to meet Namor and spend some time with Riri Williams before Ironheart premieres on Disney+ the following year.

Now, thanks to Anthony Francisco and Phil Saunders, we have some fresh concept art from the film. Several different Namor designs have been displayed by the former, one of which gives the anti-hero much more blue on his skin.

While Namor, Talokan, and its inhabitants are only visible in Wakanda Forever in their final form, the design process requires hundreds of individuals and thousands of hours, with the majority of that effort never being seen. Numerous designs ultimately don’t appear in the finished product of the movie for unknown reasons, despite having received the same amount of effort as those that do. Anthony Francisco, a concept artist whose portrayal of “warrior” Namor was selected for the movie, tweeted out a number of different images of the character.

According to Francisco, “the design process actually began a year before the production started.” “I was a member of the @MeinerdingArt-led Marvel Studios Visual Development Team. The team plays a key role in creating the MCU’s heroes and villains, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was no different. Early on, it was fun to explore Namor’s appearance and that of his people.

Some of the design’s progression can be seen in the illustrations Francisco shared, but one in particular resembles the character’s appearance in more modern comics, such as King in Black: Namor. Below are Francisco’s Instagram posts and designs.

There’s also a really cool photo of Namor sporting armor that is more akin to that of his comic book version, and we’d love to see that on screen someday.

Fans Want Namor To Look More Comic Accurate In His Solo Project

Fans desire that Namor appear more comic book accurate in his next outing, as seen in the concept art. Namor has those precise pointed eyebrows and a clean-shaven appearance in the concept art, which is similar to the comic books.
Fans want Namor to at least seem more comic-book accurate, even though the MCU version of him has undergone significant changes.

However, until the Universal Studios dispute is resolved, a standalone Namor film may not be made. Just let’s hope for the best.
