House of the Dragon fans are arguing about whether Henry Cavill would play the role of Aegon the Conqueror, Robert Baratheon during his rebellion or Cregan Stark. Henry Cavill, best known for his role as Superman, has shown interest in playing roles in fantasy as well like in ‘The Witcher.’ House of the Dragon, a prequel to the biggest fantasy franchise of Game of Thrones, could be the next target of Henry Cavill and his talents.

With the full-fledged conflict set to begin in due course in season 2, the series’s impact will be greatly expanded by visiting different locations and casting for new roles. Henry Cavill is one of the big names rumoured to join House of the Dragon season 2; still, there’s no apparent candidate for the role of the star, as fans are going crazy on Twitter.

So far, a flashback of Aegon the Conqueror, or a young Robert Baratheon during the rebellion against Aerys Targaryen (if we see one last massive time jump) look like strong contenders. Let’s first see what Twitter has to say.

Fans Want Henry Cavill To Play Aegon The Conqueror More (But Does It Make Sense?)

House of the Dragon would have to show a flashback scene of Aegon The Conqueror, and casting Henry Cavill for a small role could mean that HBO is looking at this as a marketing investment. Getting him on in the long term could expand that budget, and Henry Cavill does not come cheap. Aegon the Conqueror probably plays the most important role in the creation of the Game of Thrones universe, and Henry Cavill could be a good choice for him.

Twitter was flooding with this theory; Henry Cavill will play Aegon The Conqueror in HOTD season 2. Here are the tweets:

Fans Debate On Henry Cavill’s Role As Cregan Stark

Henry Cavill could be cast during the last season of House of the Dragon if they show Cregan Stark at all. Cregan Stark, known as the ‘Wolf of the North,’ was the Lord of Winterfell and briefly served as The Hand to King Aegon III Targaryen, after the dance of the dragons was over. Although Cregan Stark can indeed be played by the 39-year-old actor Henry Cavill, the character is in his late twenties.

People responded to this theory.

I Believe Henry Cavill Would Make A Great Young Robert Baratheon (And It’s Logical)

Henry Cavill is a muscular and buff man, who has shown tremendous swordfight-acting skills in episode 1 of ‘The Witcher,’ so he matches the depiction of Robert Baratheon. Also, he is naturally black-haired, just like George R. R. Martin has described the Baratheons. Fans don’t realize this, but Henry Cavill as Aegon the Conqueror would look strikingly similar to Geralt of Rivia from ‘The Witcher.’

Here are the fans who agree:

We are more likely to see Robert’s rebellion at the end of House of the Dragon than we are to see a flashback of Aegon the Conqueror. HBO most likely will not choose to overspend their budget by creating the CGI of Balerion The Black Dread, the biggest dragon to have ever existed and casting Henry Cavill as Aegon the Conqueror for a short role, which plays no part in the storyline we’re currently in.

On the other hand, showing Robert Baratheon’s rebellion against the Targaryens would reconnect the Game of Thrones fans and can be a nice poetic ending sequence to House of the Dragon. HOTD would end, where Game of Thrones had started.
