House of the Dragon episode 3 just dropped and let me tell you it is hands down the best so far, we finally got to see much-needed action, there was blood, decapitation, Dragons, blonde-haired royal blood, and a madman who stole the show. Did you notice, that since Daemon walked into the scene he didn’t utter a single word, and took a rowboat to the beach infested with enemies proving that he don’t need his brother’s help to win his war?

In the current episode, Daemon’s character made me believe that he’s House of the Dragon’s John snow, but reckless but he has sure shot the bravest character of the House of the dragon and is nothing like his meek brother and King Viserys I who sheds blood not in Battle but on Iron Throne.

John Snow: “I Don’t Want it”

Beginning as an outcast, Jon comes to find his voice in the Night’s Watch. Not being Ned Stark’s biological son disqualifies him from full admission to the Stark family. More than that, he is looked down upon by his fellow Night’s Watch comrades as a favor due to his affluent and educated upbringing.

But this experience has made Jon fiercely autonomous and self-reliant, qualities that have given him the confidence to go against the grain when he thinks his superiors are wrong. Jon Snow is a resolute and upright man who makes the right choice even when it costs him. He develops into a hero and a beacon of hope for the folks he loves about as the show goes on. They are less likely to cheat or breach the laws, and he is more trustworthy overall.

From the very beginning of the plot, it is clear that Jon is a smart and intuitive chief since he serves without ego or concern for himself. For instance, he successfully argued and made fun of himself to get Ned to refrain from killing the dire wolf puppies. Eventually, he succeeds in convincing his pals and Maester Aemon to take it easy on Sam and appreciate what he brings to the table, instead of concentrating on the negatives.

Daemon on the other hand has an entirely different upbringing.

Daemon Targaryen: “I’ll Take It By Force”

Fighting is in Daemon Targaryen’s blood. He battles for the sake of his family, for the sake of authority, and for the sake of establishing his own worth. Daemon has a strong ambition to take control of the realm, but he suppresses that ambition because of his brotherly love and devotion. He could have easily slain Rhaenyra, and Otto Hightower if he just cared about taking the crown. In spite of this, he was unable to force himself to carry it through. His love for his loved ones is unwavering, but he cannot control his insatiable desire for bloodshed.

His anger is as fiery as a dragon’s breath, yet his heart is as vast as the Summer Sea. There’s a constant tug of war going on between the two opposing elements of his personality, which ultimately complement one another. Irrespective of what happens in the future, fans will always recall and adore Daemon Targaryen because of how Matt Smith has brought the personality to life on television. For many, Daemon Targaryen will always hold the title of a most beloved character who is more popular, and brave but reckless than John Snow.

The brave prince had a voracious hunger and tried out many different prostitutes and enjoyed deflowering young women. However, he imparted wisdom to the job and made sure his soldiers were better equipped and disciplined once he assumed control; even throughout the Dance that tore Westeros apart, his soldiers had a great deal of respect for him.

The Takeaway

Daemon and John are both courageous and concerned with continuing their family’s legacy, but while the former would go to any lengths to claim what rightfully isn’t his, and is careless and would jump into a no man’s land without even wearing a vest whereas John is smart, tactical, informed and always willing to sacrifice his own interests for the sake of those he cares about. Honor and the desire to do what is right motivate him, rather than money and power.
