Daredevil: Born Again Star Vincent D’Onofrio Confirms Plans For A Second Season, Hinting At Significant Changes And Connections To Classic Marvel Comics.
Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin in the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, has teased plans for a second season. Until now, Loki has been the only Marvel Studios live-action series on Disney+ to be renewed for a second season.
In an interview with Newsweek, D’Onofrio stated that there will be “gigantic, gigantic payoffs” in Daredevil: Born Again’s second season. The series is set to premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2024 with an 18-episode run.
D’Onofrio emphasized that Daredevil: Born Again will be “very, very different than the Netflix show.” The actor also mentioned that production had only recently begun.
The actor hinted that the series might be linked to Marvel’s “old comic stories” and that the focus would be on answering fans’ desires while maintaining an original approach.
Marvel Studios has seemingly been planning a multi-season project for Daredevil: Born Again for some time. With the character set to appear in Echo, Born Again, and possibly Spider-Man 4, it’s clear that Marvel Studios wants to keep Daredevil around. Additionally, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will play a significant role in the series.
Rumors have suggested that Daredevil: Born Again may reintroduce Netflix characters to the mainstream MCU. Some of these characters may eventually return in Season 2, potentially bringing back the entire Netflix Defenders family. However, Marvel Studios is eager to put its own spin on these heroes.
The MCU has plans for a larger street-level crossover story, potentially involving Kingpin’s return in Hawkeye, his mayoral campaign, and appearances in Echo, Daredevil, and possibly other projects like Spider-Man 4.
