Marvel Studios is enjoying all the positive reception from the Phase 4 slate of the MCU. Right now, each episode of the animated anthology series What If…? is thoroughly entertaining fans on Disney+, and on the big screen Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is gearing up for its debut.

The MCU has also released trailers of multiple films like The Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home. The wait was especially long for the trailer of the third Spider-Man movie in the MCU. But it was indeed worth it as it gave fans a glimpse of what they were in store for.

From Alfred Molina’s long-awaited return as Doc Ock to Stephen Strange’s spell casting (and more hints of other multiversal villains to come), there was a lot that thrilled fans. It all sent the fandom into a frenzy and this was compounded by Tom Holland saying that the trailer was just the tip of the iceberg.

Daredevil and SpiderMan

Apart from Spidey-related rumors, there was plenty of speculation about the trailer of the movie hinting at the return of a character we all know and love. This was Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock from the Netflix Marvel’s Daredevil show.

At the end of 2020, there was a tonne of rumors about Charlie Cox returning in the new Spider-Man movie. But nothing has been confirmed till now, even though there is a particular scene that many think involves Matt Murdock.

So with multiple rumors flying around, Charlie Cox himself gave an interview that helped clear up the air.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Daredevil star Charlie Cox spoke about the rumors about his character Matt Murdock’s appearances in the trailer for Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home.

He was asked about a fan theory that was doing the rounds. In it, people are speculating about a scene of Peter Parker getting questioned by the authorities. And many think that it was Murdock’s forearms in the shot. But Cox dampened all fan rumors by said that:

“I promise you those are not my forearms.”

This Isn’t The First Time That Cox Has Denied Such Rumors

Now, this isn’t the first time the Daredevil star has denied his involvement in the Spider-Man: No Way Home movie. In fact, he has been on the denial train since the first rumors made the rounds in December of 2020.

Such rumors became loud and prominent after the rights of the characters reverted back to Marvel Studios from Netflix. This means that characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist can now enter into the MCU.

As such, it’s indeed possible that Matt might end up in the MCU. Know that this might end up happening since Daredevil has ties to Spider-Man in the Marvel comics. And from the looks of the trailer, Tom Holland’s Spidey does need legal help. As such, this is the perfect setup for the entry of Matt Murdock.

Is Charlie Cox Telling The Truth?

Is Charlie Cox actually telling the truth, or is he just deflecting? Till the movie releases, there is just no way to know. However, his denial does seem to be more genuine than of others.

But on the other hand, the third Spidey movie is bringing back so many characters that it’s possible that Daredevil is among them. As such, even with Cox’s repeated denials, his appearance in the movie can’t be completely disregarded.

So is Cox lying, or is he telling the truth? We will get to know about it when Spider-Man: No Way Home releases in theaters on December 17, 2021.
