Ever since James Gunn has taken on the job of DC Studios’ co-CEO, scoopers or grifters are finding it hard to peddle any kind of news about DC. Even big trades are cautious of reporting anything since James Gunn just debunks them the next day or offers clarification to the DC fandom regarding the news published. For example, when there were rumors of Gunn not liking Henry Cavill, he immediately took to Twitter to confirm that it wasn’t true. Now, he has done it again by debunking a Superman casting rumor doing the rounds of the DC fandom.

James Gunn Says Jacob Elordi Isn’t DCU’s Superman

The Twitter handle Super Film News posted that Jacob Elordi was rumored to be cast as Superman of the DCU. The account then asked everyone for their thoughts on the casting while also tagging James Gunn. The co-CEO replied that he hasn’t cast anyone as the man of steel yet. He also said that the casting will happen once the script has been finished. Here’s his full quote:

“My thoughts are no one has been cast as Superman yet. Casting, as is almost always the case with me, will happen after the script is finished or close to finished, and it isn’t. We’ll announce a few things in not too long, but the casting of Superman won’t be one of them.”

Check out his tweet below:

It’s interesting to note that he hasn’t said that Jacob Elordi won’t be Superman ever, just that no one has been cast right now.

What DCU News Will The DC co-CEO Announce Soon?

As seen in the above tweet by James Gunn, he has promised to announce news about DC projects soon. In fact, speculation is that the news is coming by the end of January. So what projects can he announce? As per a Reddit leak, apparently a lot of projects with popular characters are in development.

We already know that James Gunn himself is penning a Superman project. So there’s a possibility that we will get an update on that. But there’s more. As per a new rumor apparently Gunn is making a Batman TV show to introduce the dark knight to the DCU. It’s speculated that he has taken this decision so that Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” franchise gets a theatrical run that isn’t bogged down by another project starring the same lead character.

Also, as per Reeves, he and the DC Studios CEOs will soon sit down to exchange their plans for the “Batverse” and the DCU. So it looks like we could see a Batman TV show being announced by the end of the month.
