The MCU’s Phase 4 is over and hardcore fans are already looking forward to the next one. After all, by all accounts, Phase 5 is going to deal with something that this phase merely scratched the surface of- the multiverse. And the biggest proof of this is Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. And now there’s a rumour that Dafne Keen is entering the Marvel universe as well!
Dafne Keen Reportedly Reprising Logan Role
As per scooper Grace Randolph, Dafne Keen, who played X-23 in the 2017 Logan movie, will reprise her role in the MCU. This rumour comes on the heels of Ryan Reynold’s announcement that Hugh Jackman is reprising his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.
In Logan, Dafne Keen played Logan’s daughter or more accurately, his clone X-23. She was created by using his DNA. But she was scheduled to be eliminated after the company in charge successfully created X-24, an adult clone of Logan that obeyed their commands and was loyal to them. The nurse, Gabriela, helped Laura escape and meet up with Logan. At the end, Logan dies saving Laura. His last words to her are that she shouldn’t become what they made her for (an emotionless fighting machine to do other’s bidding).
If the rumour is true then it would be interesting to see Laura meet perhaps, another version of Logan, and maybe bond with him again. It would also give us an update of what’s going on with Laura. But mostly, it would give fans the happy ending they wanted to see with Logan staying alive and being there for Laura.
How Will Laura Or X-23 Enter The MCU?
Rumours have been circulating for long that Deadpool 3 will deal with Wade Wilson moving through the Foxverse Marvel movies to finally reach the MCU. And in the way he will team up with Jackman’s Wolverine for what’s supposed to be a self-aware buddy cop film. After all, Deadpool has a penchant for breaking the 4th wall. As such, it’s not much of a stretch to imagine that they may meet Dafne Keen’s X-23 along the way too.
It’s interesting to note that, as per Grace Randolph, Kevin Feige is reportedly interested in saying goodbye to the Foxverse X-Men before ushering in the MCU versions. As such, it makes sense that through Deadpool 3 and other projects, he will try to do so before bringing in other actors to fill these roles.
As for who is going to play Wolverine in the MCU, that hasn’t been decided yet. But Daniel Radcliffe, a popular, fancast for the role has already shot down any speculation of him joining the MCU as just baseless rumours.
Deadpool 3 is supposed to begin production early 2023, even as early as January 2023. And we might get more leaks and rumours regarding the plotline then. But till then, it’s all speculation.
