It’s actually happening now. The long-awaited third standalone Deadpool movie, currently planned for Phase 5, will star Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds as Wolverine and Deadpool, respectively. The pair is finally reuniting after 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

How will the Deadpool 3 manage to introduce Jackman’s Wolverine for “one last time” while also establishing Reynolds as a future MCU member? The solution could be found in an unexpected comic book.

Wade Wilson is forcibly admitted to a mental asylum by a worried group of X-Men at the start of the story, which is set in a timeframe separate from Earth-616.  Psycho-Man a tiny mad scientist’s goal is to brainwash as many villains as he can and build his own army of superhumans. When he tries to brainwash Deadpool, his tactics have an unexpected result. He is resistant to Psycho Man’s attempts  to control him. Instead, the violent voices in Deadpool’s head drive him on a deadly spree across the  Marvel Universe.

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are targeted by the Merc With a Mouth in a determined effort to eliminate them. The Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider all are all killed by him. He utilises Pym Particles to create a huge version of his hammer Mjolnir to crush Thor and borrows Reed Richards’ technology to kill  the Watcher.

Theoretically, Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe might be translated to Deadpool Kills the X-Men Universe or something along those lines on the big screen. By doing this, Marvel Studios would be able to maintain the R-rated tone of Deadpool’s films while also putting an end to Fox’s previous cinematic universe and providing fans with their desired Wolverine/Deadpool reunion. Wade Wilson might still be sent to a mental institution by the X-Men after they have had enough of him.

Logan might be the one pursuing Wade throughout the film owing to his unique skills (tracking, healing factor, adamantium claws, etc.), leading to the epic final showdown fans have been waiting years to see on film.
