Ryan Reynolds set the internet on fire with his recent tweet announcing the arrival of Deadpool in MCU with Deadpool 3 (DP 3). An amazing marketer, Ryan said in the tweet that he will be joined by none other than Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (or Logan) in DP 3. After a while, in another tweet, they both clarified that Wolverine’s appearance in DP 3 shall not hinder with what happened in the film – ‘Logan’ i.e. the death of Logan, by stating that that the events of the movie Logan took place in the future of 2029.

So, what exactly could this movie be about? And what surprises could be in store for us? Let the speculation race begin.

Does Deadpool have a new suit?

In the video of the tweet, Ryan Reynolds seems to be wearing a new Deadpool suit. But, it’s not. It is the same battered red and black suit that he wore during his fight with The Juggernaut at the end of Deadpool 2. Perhaps, the grey suit design that the fans all over the world are anxious to make its appearance, shall have to wait a bit longer. Maybe in a future X-Force movie. Maybe.

It could be possible that the Merc-with-a-mouth’s recent time-traveling shenanigans at the end of Deadpool 2, might be the reason for Wolverine’s appearance in the movie. So, there is a high chance that we might see the return of Cable, Colossus, Domino, and Teenage Negasonic Warhead in the movie. It is very much possible that Deadpool’s tweaking of time has led to the entire timeline getting readjusted. Maybe that is how Marvel plans to include the Mutants or the X-Men into the MCU.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine: Cameo?

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

It is clear that Hugh Jackman will appear as Wolverine in DP 3. But for how long? Will his appearance be just a cameo or he shall be a regular MCU character thereon? Nothing can be said for now. But the many shreds of evidence suggest that Hugh’s Wolverine shall remain from an alternate universe. MCU shall soon enough have its own version of Wolverine, being played by a different actor. So, Hugh’s part in the movie shall likely be a short/extended cameo.

However, Hugh after the release of ‘Logan’, has said that he might never return to play Wolverine on screen again. But here he is. So, who knows? Maybe, he might reappear in a future project sometime in the future. Maybe in a future Mutant movie or more likely in Avengers: Secret Wars, battling the other superheroes in Battleworld.

Deadpool Kills the MCU?

One of the very famous comics that fans are eager to get adapted on the big screen is – Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe. Written by Cullen Bunn, the 2011 series followed Wade Wilson aka Deadpool’s massive killing spree, wherein he decides to kill every Marvel superhero there is. It is later revealed that Deadpool was once admitted into Ravencroft Asylum by the X-Men, in order to heal his increasing insanity. But the doctor treating him is actually Psycho-Man. In an attempt to brainwash Wade, he instead turned off his inner voice, which gets replaced  by a new one that encouraged Wade to kill everyone.

Marvel does not need to copy the exact storyline but they surely can draw inspiration from them. With the projects released so far, it is becoming more and more clear that Marvel is heading towards Young Avengers. If that is so, DP 3 can easily be their excuse to get rid of the old Avengers and get a fresh start with new younger heroes. Adding to that will be the addition of the Fantastic Fours and Mutants that shall appear as a result of DP’s time-tweak.

Introduce the MCU’s Wolverine

Taron Egerton

There has been a rumor floating around that Taron Egerton might be the one to play MCU’s version of Wolverine in future projects.  Among other actors who have been rumored to play the part are – Daniel Radcliffe, Pablo Schrieber, Karl Urban, and Scott Eastwood. However, nothing official has yet been announced by Kevin Feige’s squad.

But, if Marvel indeed is eyeing to have its own version of Wolverine then DP 3 could be their best opportunity to do so. The new actor could debut in the movie and Hugh’s Wolverine could bid his final farewell before passing on the mantle or lessons to this new guy.

With numerous scenes of Deadpool fanboying over Wolverine in both the movies and decades of funny tweet-feuds between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, it will be interesting to finally see them together. Their previous appearance together in X-Men: Origins – Wolverine, did not land well with the fans. The jokes will be cracked, everyone’s favorite merc-with-a-mouth shall make sure of it. Yes, audiences will go crazy, the internet will be on fire again, and theatres across the world shall rage. But come on… it’s a normal thing for an MCU movie. Isn’t it?
