Disney has responded to Victoria Alonso‘s firing as Marvel Studios President of Physical, Post Production, VFX, and Animation. Alonso was reportedly fired due to her producing role in Amazon’s Oscar-nominated Argentina, 1985. However, her lawyer Patty Glaser denied this and claimed that Alonso was given “Disney’s blessing” to produce the film. Glaser also stated that her firing was a result of her refusal to do something “reprehensible.”

A Disney spokesperson responded to Glaser’s comments by stating that Alonso’s narrative “leaves out several key factors concerning her departure,” which included an indisputable breach of contract and a direct violation of company policy. They also thanked Alonso for her contributions to the studio.

Alonso was reportedly no longer allowed to participate in MCU press after her comments at the 2022 GLAAD awards in April 2022, in which she criticized then-Disney CEO Bob Chapek for his response to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Despite this, Alonso continued to be involved in the press for every MCU movie to release since then.
