Disney+ has recently canceled the third streaming television series, National Treasure: Edge of History, which was based on the established film franchise. It follows the previous cancellation of two other franchise spin-off series, Willow and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, due to the current cutbacks at Disney.

The Cast Of National Treasure: Edge Of History

National Treasure: Edge of History starred Lisette Oliviera as Jess Valenzuela, the lead character, and Catherine Zeta-Jones also had a major role in the show. Justin Bartha, who played Riley in the National Treasure movies, also appeared in one episode as a guest star.

Possible Reason For Cancellation

The cancellation of the National Treasure spin-off show might be due to the lack of involvement of Nicolas Cage, who played the lead role of Ben Gates in the National Treasure films. The absence of Cage, who is known to be a major draw, might have deterred fans from committing to watching the six-episode series.

Future Of The National Treasure Franchise

The cancellation of the TV show has raised questions about the future of the franchise. The planned third National Treasure film would bring back Nicolas Cage, but it has been in development limbo for many years. It remains to be seen whether the failure of the TV show will impact the production of the movie.

All ten episodes of National Treasure: Edge of History are available for streaming on Disney+, which also hosts the two National Treasure movies, National Treasure (2004) and National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007).
