New photos from the set of Disney+ Daredevil‘s upcoming series, Born Again, have been released, hinting at the inclusion of a flashback scene. The photos show a prop newspaper from 1999, suggesting a flashback to that time period.

Possible Flashback Sequences

While it is unclear what the flashback scene will entail, fans have speculated that the series may include two different flashback sequences. One sequence may be set in the ’70s or early ’80s and may be a part of Kingpin’s past, while the newspaper prop may mark Matt Murdock’s past.

Daredevil’s Flashback Scenes

The use of flashbacks is not new to Daredevil. The Netflix Daredevil series used flashbacks to reveal the abusive past of Kingpin and the moment when young Matt Murdock lost his sight. With the new evidence suggesting that Born Again is a soft reboot of the Netflix series, it will be interesting to see how the Disney+ series will differ in its approach to flashbacks.

Connection To The MCU

With Daredevil now within the MCU, fans are wondering if the flashbacks will reference events from the MCU’s past. Marvel fans have seen glimpses of the MCU in both the ’70s and the ’90s before, and the upcoming Loki Season 2 is set to visit the 1970s. It remains to be seen how Born Again will connect to the greater MCU. Nonetheless, it is exciting to see Marvel Studios further developing the characters of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio‘s.
