Jonathan Majors, the star of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, was arrested and charged with assault on March 25 in a New York City apartment. His lawyer quickly released a statement asserting Majors’ innocence, but the investigation continues. The actor has faced considerable online backlash since news of the charge broke.

Majors’ Legal Team Offers New Evidence

Priya Chaudhry, Jonathan Majors’ criminal defense lawyer, shared a statement with The Direct, in which the actor denies assaulting his girlfriend. Chaudhry revealed that Majors called 911 out of concern for his girlfriend’s mental health:

“Mr. Majors completely denies assaulting the woman. Around 11 a.m. on March 25, 2023, Jonathan Majors called 911 out of concern for the woman’s mental health.”

Chaudhry stated that the actor’s arrest was due to an NYPD protocol under “certain circumstances.” She also shared that Majors’ girlfriend later sent text messages admitting to using “physical force against” him:

“The police arrived with the paramedics, as is standard procedure, and arrested Mr. Majors due to an NYPD protocol requiring arrest in certain circumstances. On that same day, only 7 and 9 hours later, the woman sent text messages to Mr. Majors admitting that she was the one who used physical force against him.”

Girlfriend’s Text Messages Support Majors’ Claims

The attorney added that the girlfriend “disavowed any allegations” of wrongdoing by the actor and confirmed that he initially called the police:

“She also disavowed any allegations that he had done anything to her and confirmed that Mr. Majors called 911 because of her mental condition. These are those messages, redacting the woman’s name for her privacy.”

The text messages from the girlfriend refuting the assault allegations are available below. In them, she claims responsibility for the situation, stating that it was “[her] fault for trying to grab [his] phone,” which allegedly led to the dispute and Majors’ arrest.
