Ever since Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgame, fans had two common questions. These were- will Robert Downey Jr. show up as Iron Man again somehow? And if not, then who will take up the mantle of Iron Man? Thankfully, we have the answer now in Ironheart

Ironheart Is The Answer To Iron Man’s Legacy Questions

Ironheart was only a rumour till last year. Many fans also speculated that we might not see the Iron Man mantle passed down for some years. Others said that Tony Stark’s daughter Morgan could carry on her father’s legacy. But none of these are going to be true. However, we are glad that Tony”s legacy isn’t getting shafted.

So, Tony Stark will indeed have a legacy and that will be carried by Ironheart and not his daughter for now. After all, Morgan Stark is still a child and it will be at least a decade or so before she can take up her father’s mantle. Also, we should mention that letting Tony Stark’s mantle not get carried forward after every other major hero has already passed on their shields and guns, would be neglectful.

So, making an Ironheart show would be the best option to go with. Right now we know that the Disney+ Ironheart show is indeed happening with a young hero who will step into the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When Will Ironheart Begin Production?

Ironheart will be led by Dominique Thorne who will play Riri Williams, a genius inventor who creates the most advanced armor since Tony Stark.  Apart from this, there hasn’t been much news about the show. But as per new filming reports, it’s being said that Ironheart will start shooting in April of 2022.

So this means that we won’t get to actually see the show till late 2022 or early 2023. But the team behind the show is slowly coming together as Marvel Studios has tapped Chinaka Hodge as the main writer of the show. Hodge’s past work involves Apple TV’s Amazing Stories as well as the newest Snowpiercer adaptation.

Along with this, the show already has a working title.

As per Lizzie Hill of The Cosmic Circus, Ironheart’s working title is “Wise Guy.”

Now, productions have a variety of working titles. But generally, they are all related to the story that is being told. So in here, we think that the ‘Wise Guy’ is obviously Tony Stark. After all, he is the one who fits the bill perfectly, not just in the MCU but also in Marvel Comics.

In the comics, Tony was forced to go into a coma after he got involved in a fight with Captain Marvel. The why’s and how’s are a long story for another time. But Stark had his mind backed up into an A.I. He sent this to Riri Williams because he saw promise in her.

To understand why he saw promise in her you will need to know some backstory. In the comics, it’s shown that Tony Stark graduated from MIT summa cum laude at just 17 years old. In the series Captain America: Civil War, we find Tony Stark return as a guest speaker to his alma mater.

He is there to introduce the September Foundation Grant. It’s a program that’s meant to give funds for students’ research as well as to the school. Note that in the comics, Riri attends MIT in the comics from when she’s just 11 years old. So in the MCU, it’s possible that after the 5-year time-skip in Endgame, Williams was already present on Stark’s radar through the September Foundation.

Also, it’s possible that in the event of his death, he would have made an A.I delivered for Williams, just like in the comics. Then he would be able to mentor her, just like he does in the comics. Now if this ends up happening, then it will be a great way to bring back Tony Stark while he prepares the next person to take over his mantle.

However, it’s also possible that the wise guy title could refer to her father or step-father. But since they were already dead before her comics began and so they weren’t influential in her development. At least, not to the extent Tony was.

Since Ironheart is supposed to begin shooting in April 2022, so we can expect more character reveals and plot confirmations before then. Till then let’s hope that Tony Stark stays alive in A.I form to us.
