The Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi show is the most highly anticipated Star Wars show. Fans can’t wait to see Ewan McGregor reprise his role as the Jedi Master after almost two decades away from the role.

The show is set between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It will follow Kenobi during his exile after the downfall of the Jedi Order at the hands of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. Along with this, Hayden Christensen will also reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/ Darth Vader. Many have speculated that the battle between them on Mustafar might not have been the last time they saw each other before meeting on the first Death Star. But that’s not the only surprise.

Not only will the show reunite McGregor and Christensen, but it will bring in plenty of die-hard Star Wars fans as well to take part in it. In fact, during a recent chat on Variety’s Just for Variety podcast, star Maya Erskine talked about starring in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show. She confirmed that several Star Wars fans had been cast as extras in the show. Here’s what she said:

“The extras were incredible on the set, and a lot of them were mega Star Wars fans. One guy, he was so nice and he lifted up his sleeves and had Star Wars tattoos over his whole body. And they build droids. There are a lot of Star Wars fans that build droids, and then the production companies will rent [them] from the fans.”

According to Erskine’s remarks about the show, it seems like they are not casual Star Wars fans. These are hardcore Star Wars fans who get tattoos all over their bodies and make detailed screen-ready droids that can be used by the actual production company itself instead of making its own.

Since Erskine is herself a massive Star Wars fan, so it seems like she was right at home among it all. Now, we must say that this all isn’t surprising. Star Wars very clearly has a rabid fanbase. So no shortage of Star Wars enthusiasts can be brought into shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Moreover, this isn’t the first time the franchise has dipped into its fandom to scoop out some talent. We know that The Mandalorian cast multiple Star Wars fans to be extras.
