Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi premiere has been delayed. Disney said on Thursday that the show will now launch on May 27, two days later than it had originally planned. Additionally, Disney has announced that fans will receive the first two episodes of the series in one sitting, which should help alleviate the two-day wait between the new release date and premiere. Ewan McGregor, who plays the titular role, made the announcement. Afterwards, Ewan praised fans for their support of the show and its trailer, before announcing that there would be an additional episode and a delay.

With Obi-Wan Kenobi’s new schedule, Disney Plus’ programming will be impacted more significantly. As a result of Disney’s decision to release two episodes at once, this series will now have one fewer week of competition with Marvel’s Ms. Marvel. The premiere of Ms. Marvel is scheduled for June 8, and Obi-run Wan’s will expire around June 22 if all goes according to plan.

For a double episode premiere, Lucasfilm decided to reschedule Obi-Wan Kenobi’s release date to Friday, 45 years after A New Hope’s release and Obi-first Wan’s appearance. Star Wars Celebration may have played a role in this decision, but it’s not clear why this choice was taken in the first place. While this is good news for fans of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars series, it also means that the first episode of Netflix’s Stranger Things Season 4 Part 1 will be available on the same day as the highly anticipated Star Wars series.

Kenobi Himself Announces The News

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s release date has been pushed back by two days in a new video posted by Lucasfilm today. On Friday, May 27, 2022, the series will premiere on Disney+. As a goodwill gesture, McGregor announced that the first two Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes will now be available on the same day. Following this, new episodes will be released on Wednesdays again. Here’s a look at the video announcing the news:

Because of this, viewers may look forward to two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi being released on the same day, which is a pleasant surprise. The two-episode premiere is a first for Star Wars, as both seasons of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett had single-episode premieres. The anticipation for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s release will be heightened now that fans will be able to see the first two episodes of Ewan McGregor’s return.

Star Wars fans in the US were treated to eight weeks of fresh episodes of The Mandalorian every Friday when Disney+ originally arrived in on the app. New episodes of The Clone Wars were released soon after the end of the workweek. It was a terrific week, especially Fridays. All of a sudden, everything began to shift.

Disney+ Tries To Dominate Against Services

Disney +
Disney+ wants to establish the weekdays for their series and movies.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter in June 2021; Disney+ had switched its original content release day from Fridays to Wednesdays; with effect from that date forward. The Bad Batch began Friday releases in May; Star Wars’s The Book of Boba Fett was the first Star Wars series to follow suit. Throughout the first season, new episodes were released every Friday.

Even today, official publications may only speculate about the reason for the change in subscribers. With so much content being released, Disney+ didn’t want to compete against itself. Original Disney+ films, which normally premiere on Friday, do not fall under this category. Assumably, this means that users won’t have to choose between Disney+’s original TV shows and movies because they can each focus on one at a time.

Netflix often releases new episodes or seasons of its original content on Fridays; so Disney+ may wish to avoid direct competition with Netflix on Fridays as well. Even though it may seem like a popular or convenient day to release new Star Wars content; it has nothing to do with us and everything to do with money, contrary to common belief. Despite the stress of having to wake up at the crack of dawn to avoid Twitter spoilers; new Star Wars in the middle of the week does make hump day a little easier to bear.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on May 27th

This year, Lucasfilm released the first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi, which was kept under wraps for some time. Many fans were thrilled to see Ewan McGregor make a triumphant return; to see the Inquisitors in action, and to see a glimpse of Darth Vader. It was also announced that the show would premiere on May 25, 2022. Since then, fans have been eagerly anticipating the show’s release on this date. Now, with the two day push, it isn’t much of a deal to wait longer now.

Obi-Wan Kenobi brings the return of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Vader will likely be played once again by Hayden Christensen. As well as featuring Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie are the other cast members. Obi-Wan Kenobi begins 10 years after “Revenge of the Sith,” when Kenobi faced his greatest defeat; the collapse and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader.

Deborah Chow, who directed two episodes of Season 1 of The Mandalorian; will direct all the episodes for the show this season.
