Obi-Wan Kenobi

Disney+ Show Obi-Wan Kenobi New Rumored Release Date

Disney is busy expanding the Star Wars universe on Disney+. This can be seen by the various live-action projects that are in development in the galaxy far far away. One of the most anticipated projects is Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The show is directed by The Mandalorian’s Deborah Chow. Ewan McGregor will reprise the role of Kenobi, and he will be joined by Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader.

It’s rumoured that their fight in the show will set a new Star Wars record. The show will be set a decade after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

Apart from Christensen, the show will also include Joel Edgerton, Sung Kang, and Kumail Nanjianim. Not much is known about the plot apart from Obi-Wan’s situation at this point in the timeline.

Production has already wrapped for the show, but no one knows its exact release date for now. But it has been confirmed that Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere in 2022. However, what is the release month?

Will Obi-Wan Kenobi Premiere During Star Wars Day?

Darth Vader Vs Obi-Wan Kenobi

The editor-in-chief of Cinelinx, Jordan Maison, has shared that as per his insider sources, Obi-Wan Kenobi could premiere during May 2022.

Here’s his tweet:

In a way, this rumor does make a lot of sense.

After all, Obi-Wan Kenobi is done with filming, and it’s fitting that the show with Obi-Wan in the lead will be released in the month that has Star Wars day.

Star Wars The Bad Batch Poster

In 2022, Star Wars day falls on Wednesday. This means that there’s a very strong chance that the show might get released on that day. It also needs to be said that this would be following the precedent set by The Bad Batch that premiered on May 4, 2021.

So if this is indeed true, then May 2022 and overall the upcoming year itself will be a big one for the galaxy-spanning franchise. Right now, The Book of Boba Fett is all set to kick off the next year of Star Wars media. Even though it is premiering in December 2021, its six-episode slate will easily carry out into January 2022.

What’s Next After The Book Of Boba Fett?

Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi And Mandalorian

No one knows what show will follow The Book of Boba Fett. However, many are predicting that Diego Luna’s Andor will be the next one to steam on Disney+ after the Temeura Morrison-led series.

Once Andor gets over, then Obi-Wan Kenobi could stream. Since the characters, as well as the storylines, are going to be so closely connected to the Original and the Prequel Trilogy, so it will be a treat to fans if it airs during Star Wars day.

However, we do need to mention that this is pure speculation right now. No one else is confirming or backing up the May 2022 release period. But we do hope that this rumor is correct since it will be a visual treat for Star Wars fans all over.
