To capitalize on the success of the popular Disney+ series WandaVision, Marvel Studios has begun work on a spin-off series centered on Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness. Wanda Maximoff constructs an alternative world based on various decades of TV sitcoms. Keeping in mind, Paul Bettany’s Vision is still alive in the series after his death in Avengers: Infinity War.

There was also a return for MCU actors Randall Park as FBI agent Jimmy Woo. Moreover, Kat Dennings’ astronomer Darcy Lewis and fresh faces like Ariel Hahn, and Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau were seen again. Finally, Debra Jo Rupp as Dr. Darcy Lewis, and Evan Peters’ Quicksilver named Ralph Bohner returned.

A huge success for Disney+ and Marvel, WandaVision received a tonne of positive critical feedback as well as being nominated for 23 Emmy Awards. The final results included three Primetime Emmy wins. These included the following:

  1. An award for Outstanding Sci-Fi/Fantasy Costumes
  2. Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour)
  3. Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for “Agatha All Along,” the show’s fan-favorite tune.

There’s another surprise in store for fans of Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch. This will be seen when she returns in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness next year. According to Variety, Marvel Studios and Disney+ are working on a spin-off series based on Hahn’s wicked witch Agatha Harkness.

Narrative specifics are still being kept under wraps. Nonetheless, insiders characterize the show as “a dark comedy”. WandaVision chief writer Jac Schaeffer will serve in the same capacity as executive producer. Both Marvel Studios and Schaeffer and Hahn’s agents have remained silent in the wake of this development.

One of the most lauded aspects of the Disney+ series has been Hahn’s portrayal as wicked witch Agatha in WandaVision, starting as the irritating inquisitive neighbor to the rug pull revelation of her villainy in “Agatha All Along.” With Schaeffer likely to return as the writer for the spin-off after her Emmy-nominated mothership series work, Marvel’s plan to capitalize on this success should excite fans of the character.

There are many additional MCU films in different phases of production or shooting including Loki season 2, while WandaVision acted as a lead-up to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The spin-off also arrives at an intriguing moment for both studio and Disney+.

Despite the lack of storyline specifics for the possible WandaVision spin-off, Agatha’s spin-off has plenty of room to explore. It’s possible that she’s still trying to break out of the mental prison Wanda put her in in “The Series Finale,” since her roots date back to the late 17th century. There are still hundreds of years of history to discover for the villain. In the meanwhile, Disney+ subscribers may watch WandaVision to prepare for the Scarlet Witch’s return in Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness in March 2022.
