Marvel’s next film is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The project majorly plans to portray the idea of alternate realities. And to do that, the film will set up several hurdles in the path of Benedict Cumberbatch’s lead sorcerer. Sam Raimi directs the upcoming MCU sequel. The film will feature Doctor Strange and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff teaming up for the first time. In addition, there are some old, and some new characters included like Wong and America Chavez.

The multiverse of Madness will release in theaters in May 2022. However, Marvel and Disney have not started promoting the movie yet. Although, there are some leaked concept art and LEGO sets that have surfaced on the internet. And through these, fans have a little knowledge of what the movie will be heading towards.

There are also several rumors surrounding the exciting plot of Multiverse of Madness. These main discussions ring revolve around the potential villains, namely Gargantos and Shuma Gorath. With 2021 close to its end, 2022 brings several exciting projects for Marvel. And rumors regarding the Doctor Strange sequel are seeing even more light online. Among these, there is one rumor that has particularly drawn the attention of the officials. And it is none other than a top-level Disney executive.

Disney comments back on Doctor Strange sequel’s trailer rumor.

Twitter user @itsjustanotherx recently posted a rumor surrounding the first trailer drop for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The said Marvel fan claimed that the studio plans on releasing the first trailer through Spider-Man: No Way Home’s second post-credits scene. The fan also shared some of the clips’ most exciting parts. Like Gargantos’ attack against the titular sorcerer and Wanda’s unexpected villainous act:

“The first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is reportedly being released as #SpiderManNoWayHome’s second post credits scene and it features Gargantos throwing a bus at Doctor Strange and America Chavez. Gargantos is rumored to be summoned by Wanda.”

This sudden spoiler revealing tweet prompted Asad Ayaz, Disney’s President of Marketing, to reply with a surprisingly vague response that said “what.”

Cinema Reviewed was the first to acknowledge this rumor. Following this, Big Screen Leaks corroborated it on Twitter.

So when exactly will Marvel release the trailer for Doctor Strange 2?

Asad Ayaz’s latest response to the tweet implies a number of things.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Firstly, it is highly possible that the fan comment left the Disney executive utterly surprised and confused. The “what” in this case is absolutely justified. It could mean that Ayaz is just as intrigued and wants to understand how the user obtained spoiler-heavy information. On the other hand, Ayaz’s ambiguous reaction could also be suggesting a little truth in the plot details of the trailer description. Whatever the case, the subtle one-word response does nothing to entirely dismiss the rumor, Which only gets the fans more excited for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

This is not the first time that a high-level executive from Disney and Marvel Studios has responded to rumors online.

Marvel Studios Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige is quite familiar with being asked a string of questions during multiple interviews regarding MCU films’ essential plot details. The Marvel Studios boss recently made a light-hearted humorous comment on Jamie Foxx’s spoiler social media post about No Way Home. Feige confessed that he is now “numb to anybody tweeting anything about anything.”

Obviously, it makes sense that the media executives at both Marvel and Disney always refrain from confirming or denying a particular rumor online. However, it is fun to see that they are still reacting to them. As it only builds anticipation among fans. At this point, though, it appears as if the only way to understand if this rumor holds any weight or not is to wait until Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters. Until then, fans can only sit and speculate the various meanings of Ayaz’s one-word response on social media.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will premiere in theaters worldwide on December 17, 2021. At the same time, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will release on May 6, 2022.
