Over the past few years, Elizabeth Olsen has become one of the MCU’s leading ladies. In The Multiverse of Madness, she portrays the most terrifying version of her character to date. Olsen’s off-screen personality has shone through in conversations with her and her co-stars since Phase 4 began, despite the Scarlet Witch’s popularity as the primary antagonist of this sequel.
After the release of Doctor Strange 2, Olsen caused a stir by admitting on a lie detector that she had never met John Krasinski, who had just made waves with his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Mr. Fantastic. Both Jett Klyne and Julian Hilliard have opened up about their time working with her in recent weeks, giving exclusive interviews in which Hilliard jokes that he called her “Momda” on set.
Olsen has been able to talk more freely about her time on set and her hopes for Wanda Maximoff’s future now that her latest film has been out for a while. Also, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe blooper reel features one of the franchise’s scariest villains to date, giving fans a good laugh.
The first gag reel for Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been released, and it stars Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Cumberbatch in several hilarious scenes. Olsen tries to strike a pose as the villainous Scarlet Witch, but she falls over and says, “I’m….f***ing can’t get up!”
A stray leaf flies right into Olsen’s chin as she dangles from wires and performs her magic in the halls of Kamar-Taj, briefly distracting her. A larger leaf lands on Olsen’s face, and she tries to lick it off before laughing uncontrollably as she hangs from the tree.
With a feral expression on his face, Benedict Cumberbatch mimics the action style seen in music videos from the late 1990s and early 2000s. Spending time in the company of Xochitl Gomez and Benedict Wong, with whom he enjoys performing comedy, is a highlight of his life.
Several times during filming in New York City, Cumberbatch breaks out into a dance number, demonstrating his moves in his new Doctor Strange costume. Olsen, incredulous, holds her hands in the air for a moment before clasping them and taking a deep breath. Incredulous, Gomez watches as Cumberbatch laughs and apologizes while shoveling food out of his mouth in the film’s leading role.
Over the course of Phase 4, Marvel Studios has become a regular participant in the blooper reel genre, with each film delivering a wealth of hilarious outtakes for fans to relive after the film’s theatrical debut. This is most evident in the on-set dancing of actors like Brie Larson and Harry Styles.
Since this is Elizabeth Olsen’s second project in Phase 4, it’s safe to assume that the MCU veteran had a blast on this massively successful film set. As the film’s main antagonist, she was able to let loose and enjoy her work, despite a few bloopers that occurred naturally during Doctor Strange 2 filming.
Some of the most memorable moments in the Doctor Strange 2 gag reel involve Benedict Cumberbatch, Xochitl Gomez, and Benedict Wong breaking out into spontaneous dance routines and other shenanigans while the cameras were rolling between takes. This short clip, clocking in at just over a minute in length, certainly doesn’t do justice to the amount of fun that the cast and crew had working on this project, but it certainly does set the stage.
