What will Doctor Strange’s 2 final battle look like? The MCU’s most powerful superhero has been constantly shifting. Wanda Maximoff appeared to take the top spot after the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame and Thanos’ destruction of the universe during Avengers: Infinity War.
Because the Scarlet Witch appears to be breaking bad with the Darkhold, Doctor Strange will have to face the most powerful character in the series. Now, after Loki and NWH shattered, the multiverse, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has emerged as the new tether for the MCU.
At the end of the film, Richie Palmer hinted that an answer will be provided for the sorcerer’s chances against Wanda.
Who is more powerful: Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff or Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange? Richie Palmer was asked this question during an interview with Empire. To put it bluntly, Palmer predicted Wanda’s victory and said, “I don’t know who is more powerful than Wanda.”
Doctor Strange “meeting the Wanda Maximoff at the end of Endgame would have been a lot” for the wizard, Palmer said, recalling her display of power at the end of Avengers: Endgame with Thanos.
“Meeting the Wanda Maximoff at the end of Endgame would have been a lot for Strange. Who comes out on top as the most powerful being in the universe? Maybe we find out at the end of the movie.”
As of the end of WandaVision, when Wanda took control of the Darkhold, things have only gotten worse. There are many definitions of madness, according to Palmer, who likened Wanda’s newfound knowledge of herself as the Scarlet Witch to Strange’s “watching the love of his life marry someone else:”
“It’s maddening for Doctor Strange to have to watch the love of his life marry someone else. And it’s maddening for Wanda to have been told, ‘There’s a book, and there’s a chapter about you in that book you should read, and secrets you don’t know about yourself.'”
Additionally, Olsen spoke of her excitement “to do dialogue” with Cumberbatch, since this is the first time the two actors will appear on screen together in this colossal franchise:
“I really was excited to do dialogue with him. I really enjoyed our constant conversation, of analysis and trying to understand where both characters are coming from.”
Even after Wanda nearly snapped Thanos in half like a twig at the end of Avengers: Endgame, it’s reasonable to assume that Doctor Strange wouldn’t stand much of a chance if the two went head-to-head.
Fans have also seen in Infinity War how easy it was for Ebony Maw to knock out Doctor Strange using simple telekinesis. This is something Wanda could easily do on her own, if not kill him with a flick of her wrist.
That being said, it appears that the Sorcerer Supreme faces an enormous final battle against the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange 2. The Darkhold claims the latter is more powerful than he is. The odds are stacked against our mystic protagonist, especially in light of Wanda’s apparent increase in power following the conclusion of Endgame and WandaVision and the revelation of her Darkhold abilities.
