The first-ever glimpses of a Multiverse appeared in the MCU when Loki opened it. After that, Spider-Man: No Way Home put on an epic display of the consequences of dealing with a crack in the Multiverse. But actually, it is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that will break the Multiverse and introduce a whole new world of variants and alternate timelines. The upcoming Marvel Studios project is bound to change the MCU forever. Especially after Doctor Strange’s impressive appearance in No Way Home, the character is absolutely ideal as the lead.

Disney’s June release Loki, led by Tom Hiddleston, was the first MCU project that launched the idea within Marvel Studios. Following which the production was keen on introducing a bunch of cameos into the Multiverse of Madness. This is why it will only make sense if certain characters from the series made an appearance. As a matter of fact, rumours are suggesting the involvement of Hiddleston himself in the movie. In addition, reports of a potential cameo from Sophia Di Martino and Owen Wilson have also been floating around.

Doctor Strange sequel connections with Loki

There are a few characters whose appearance is officially confirmed in the Doctor Strange sequel. These include the debut of Marvel Comics characters such as America Chavez as well as the return of a flagship character in the form of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. But because Marvel’s forthcoming Multiverse focuses on the other variants of fan-favourite characters, some shocking faces may make a revelation. Already, we have the evil version of Doctor Strange himself, who was generously teased in the recent trailer of the movie.

Marvel’s first outing to introduce the idea of a Multiverse and the existence of Variants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was Loki. The series also featured the Time Variance Authority. The TVA has indeed seen some modifications because of the convergence of various timelines that created chaos in the show’s Season 1 finale. But the existence of TemPeds as modes of time travel is still a thing. And we have grounds to believe that the device will show up again in the Multiverse of Madness.

A glimpse of Loki’s TemPad revealed in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness

A certain Marvel fan seems to have spotted an Easter Egg in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer. The fan believes that the thing is a Time Door. And it resembles the ones opened by TemPed in Disney’s Loki.

The fan noticed a rectangle-like shape behind Wanda at about 40 seconds into the trailer. The supposed door radiates a familiar orange colour that reminds them of the Time Doors seen in Loki.

It is important to note that so far, this is simply fan-induced speculation. However, the orange glow from the vertical rectangular shape behind Wanda is a detail that cannot go unnoticed. Apparently, the story arc for the Time Variance Authority shifted drastically as we moved forward into Loki’s later episodes as compared to the season’s start. However, the organization’s methods for time travel seem to remain the same. TemPads will obviously be used again in Loki’s Season 2. So it makes sense that Marvel might decide to include it in the current MCU projects.

Is it possible that Loki characters will appear in the Doctor Strange Sequel?

Now the question that poses itself is this. If there is actually a shot of the Time Door in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, then who could be using it? According to the shot, it could be Wanda. Because she is the only character visible in the frame. Although, there are chances that a different character is using the door and is about to appear behind her.

The most sensible possibility would be a TVA hunter coming after Wanda as she works with tweaking the timeline. But other than the authorities, there are a bunch of characters from Loki who could step through the Time Door. Thus wrecking unimaginable chaos in the Doctor Strange sequel. As seen at the end of Episode 6 of Loki, Sylvie is completely alone in the Citadel. She has just killed He Who Remains. And it is sinking in how all his warnings of the Multiversal collapse were actually true. We have no idea what lies in her story next. But she would take any chance at getting out of the damage she caused. And perhaps land at the same place as the Scarlet Witch herself?

Another character who is likely to show up is Mobius. However, it entirely depends on if the alternate TVA seen in the Loki finale is different altogether. Or is it simply a “reset” version of the one that appeared throughout the series. If it actually is a different TVA, then Mobius may just take matters into his own hands to settle the mishap occurring at the end of the show. As a result, he might end up in the presence of Wanda and/or other Multiverse of Madness characters.

Will Tom Hiddleston’s Loki have a cameo?

Needless to say, a character as significant as Loki himself will not have a cameo in the film. More so because his show’s second season will begin at the season finale and take things forward from there. So a new Multiversal scenario will only draw Loki in a different direction. Because at the end of the season finale, he finds himself in the new TVA. But then again, rumours are that we are about to see a huge number of Variants in the Multiverse of Madness. So if a Variant or two of the God of Mischief himself does show up, we will only be delighted.

Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set for its theatrical release on May 6, 2022.
